Job Description:

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and qualified Electrical/Mechanical Engineer for maintenance operations on a site-based facility management contract. The successful candidate will ensure the safe and efficient operation of electrical/mechanical systems, provide technical expertise, and work with a team of engineers. The role requires a thorough understanding of UK electrical regulations, including qualifications for high voltage (HV) supervision. A full clean driver's license is essential as an electric van will be provided for on-site duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Electrical/Mechanical Maintenance Management:
    • Manage electrical/mechanical maintenance activities, including inspections, testing, PPMs, and repairs, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards.
    • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to reduce downtime and optimize system performance.
    • Troubleshoot faults and provide timely resolutions to minimize operational disruptions.
  2. HV Supervision:
    • Provide high voltage (HV) supervision, ensuring safety protocols and regulations are followed during HV equipment installation, maintenance, and repair.
    • Conduct risk assessments and implement safety measures to mitigate HV hazards.
    • Train and mentor junior engineers on HV procedures and safety practices.
  3. Technical Expertise:
    • Evaluate the condition of electrical/mechanical systems, identify improvements, and recommend solutions to enhance efficiency and reliability.
    • Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes to ensure compliance and best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Electrical qualification recognized in the UK (e.g., City & Guilds, NVQ, HNC, HND) with demonstrable electrical engineering experience.
  • HV supervision qualifications (e.g., HV Authorized Person certification) are essential.
  • Proven experience in electrical/mechanical engineering, preferably in facilities management or similar settings.
  • Thorough knowledge of UK electrical standards (e.g., BS 7671) and ability to interpret and apply them.
  • Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective stakeholder interaction.
  • A valid full clean driver’s license is mandatory, as an electric van will be provided for on-site duties.
