Job summary

Vitacress Salads is seeking an Electrical/Mechanical Engineer for our St Mary Bourne site. The role is on a 4on4off shift pattern (2 days / 2 nights) and focuses on hands-on maintenance to keep production lines running efficiently and safely.

You will work with the engineering team reporting to the Shift Engineering Lead, performing reactive and preventative maintenance, and supporting continuous improvement across the site. Training opportunities and progression are highlighted in our programme.

Qualifications

• Recognised electrical/mechanical qualification or equivalent experience.
• Experience with reactive and preventative maintenance (PPM).
• Ability to read electrical & mechanical drawings.
• Knowledge of pneumatic systems; basic fabrication/welding.

Responsibilities

• Minimise downtime and maximise equipment reliability.
• Support production by maintaining machinery safely.
• Work with Production, Technical and Hygiene teams.
• Operate across different site areas with flexibility.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and site performance.
• Record maintenance activities for audits and improvements.

In this role you will…

• Work as part of the engineering team reporting to the Shift Engineering Lead
• Take a hands‑on approach to maintenance within a fast‑paced food manufacturing environment
• Support production by keeping machinery running efficiently and safely
• Work collaboratively with Production, Technical, and Hygiene teams
• Operate across different areas of the site with flexibility
• Contribute to continuous improvement and site performance

You can do this if you…

• Have a recognised electrical mechanical qualification (e.g. HNC, HND, BTEC L3, City & Guilds, or relevant apprenticeship) or experience in a similar working environment
• Can carry out both reactive and planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
• Can diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical faults effectively
• Can read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings
• Work with pneumatic systems and carry out basic fabrication/welding
• Analyse problems and implement practical, timely solutions
• Plan and prioritise tasks while working under pressure
