Job summary

Via East Midlands is seeking an Electrical Manager to lead a diverse portfolio of highway electrical activities across Nottinghamshire. You will manage Supervisors and operational staff, delivering street lighting maintenance, illuminated signs, bollards, and electrical installations with a focus on safety, quality and timely delivery.

The role requires proven leadership in highway electrical services, ICP works knowledge, and a strong track record in budget and programme management.

Qualifications

  • Experience leading operational delivery teams in highway electrical, street lighting or infrastructure maintenance.
  • Extensive track record in street lighting maintenance, improvements and fault response.
  • Knowledge of ICP works, electrical connections and DNO interfaces.

Electrical Manager (Street Lighting, ICP & Highway Electrical Services)

Location: Nottinghamshire
Contract: Full Time, Permanent

Are you an experienced operational leader with a background in highway electrical services, street lighting, and infrastructure maintenance?

We are seeking an enthusiastic and driven Electrical Manager to lead the delivery of a diverse portfolio of highway electrical activities across Nottinghamshire. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to manage operational teams and play a key role in delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality services for our clients and communities.

The Role

As Electrical Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of Supervisors and operational staff delivering:

  • Street lighting maintenance and repairs
  • Illuminated traffic signs and bollard maintenance
  • Electrical installations and renewals
  • Highway electrical infrastructure projects
  • Emergency response and fault rectification activities

You will ensure all works are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards while maintaining compliance with highway and electrical industry regulations.

A strong candidate profile for this role should include both operational leadership experience and recognised highway/electrical qualifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage Supervisors and operational teams across multiple workstreams.
  • Plan and coordinate programme delivery to achieve performance and contractual targets.
  • Monitor productivity, quality, safety and customer service standards.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant electrical and highway standards, regulations and procedures.
  • Support the development of staff through coaching, training and performance management.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, supply chain partners and internal teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement in operational performance and service delivery.
  • Manage resources, budgets and workloads effectively to maximise efficiency.
About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • Proven experience managing operational delivery teams within highway electrical, street lighting or infrastructure maintenance services.
  • Extensive experience delivering street lighting maintenance, improvement schemes and fault response activities.
  • Working knowledge of ICP (Independent Connection Provider) works, electrical connections and DNO interfaces.
  • Experience managing programmes for illuminated signs, bollards and other highway electrical assets.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing Supervisors and directly employed operatives.
  • Ability to drive performance, productivity and quality standards across multiple workstreams.
  • Sound knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation, including CDM Regulations and safe systems of work.
  • Experience managing budgets, resources, subcontractors and contractual performance measures.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with clients, local authorities and supply chain partners.
  • Demonstrable commitment to safety, customer service and continuous improvement.
Essential Qualifications & Certifications
  • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme)
  • Good understanding of CDM Regulations 2015 and application of Principal Contractor duties
  • Relevant electrical qualification (City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical Installation/Electrotechnical Services)
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH General Certificate (desirable)
  • ECS/CSCS Card appropriate to role
  • Knowledge of BS7671 Wiring Regulations
  • Understanding of EN40, BS5489 and highway electrical standards
  • Experience working within National Highways and local authority highway environments
  • safe systems of work.
  • Experience managing budgets, resources, subcontractors and contractual performance measures.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with clients, local authorities and supply chain partners.
  • Demonstrable commitment to safety, customer service and continuous improvement.
