Electrical Maintenance Technician, GMS Band B2- plus 17.8% enhanced pay rate
An exciting opportunity has arisen within Gloucestershire Managed Services (GMS) for a skilled Electrical Maintenance Technician. The role offers a competitive salary of £27,409 - £34,796 (depending on NHS Operational Estates experience) per annum (includes a 17.8% market enhanced rate only applicable to the top point of the base salary) and an additional on-call allowance where applicable.'
The successful candidate will primarily be based at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital but may be required to work at healthcare properties across the county as needed. The post involves working as part of a team, working 37.5 hours per week, working shifts including weekend working and being part of an on-call rota.
The post holder will act as a Competent Person (CP) for low voltage (LV) electrical systems and related mechanical responsibilities, ensuring compliance with NHS England Health Technical Memorandums (HTM) and Health Building Notes (HBN) relevant Health and Safety legislation. - Act as a Competent Person (CP) for Low Voltage (LV) electrical systems, performing work as directed by the Workshop Manager (WSM) and Authorised Person (AP) leads.
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain electrical installations, including power, lighting, fire detection, nurse call, security, access control, heating, ventilation, and mechanical equipment.
- Perform routine and complex maintenance tasks across both patient and non-patient environments.
- Perform complex and non-routine electrical tasks.
- Ensure compliance with Trust and GMS procedures, including participation in audit
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations standards and statutory requirements
- Collaborate with ward and department managers to minimise disruption during maintenance work.
- Participate in the on-call rota to provide out-of-hours support as needed.
- Efficiently plan and manage resources (materials and labour) to complete maintenance tasks.
- Mentor and support colleagues, apprentices, and contractors in technical matters.
- Carry out routine and preventative maintenance tasks, ensuring a proactive approach to fault detection and resolution.
- Attend training and development courses as required.
- Work Safely at all times.

Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain electrical installations and associated systems
- Organise resources, including labour, materials, and transportation to ensure tasks are completed efficiently
- Ensure high standards of workmanship and keep detailed service records
- Report defects in plant, equipment and building fabric promptly
- Supervise trade staff when necessary and provide guidance on technical matters.
- Participate in planned preventative maintenance schedules to ensure equipment remains in optimal condition.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required and follow all safety protocols
- Operate the Estates/Facilities management system, including completing job records and timesheets.
- Liaise with ward and department managers to arrange access for maintenance tasks and minimal disruption
- Ensure personal development through training, keeping up to date with new techniques and regulations.
- Exposure to heat, noise, chemicals, body fluids, and sewage.
- Moderate to heavy physical work, including lifting and working at heights
- Frequent concentration needed for fault-finding and interpreting drawings.
- Adherence to infection control protocols when working in clinical areas.
- Shift working and responding to failures/breakdowns as part of an on-call rota
