Job description

We are seeking an experienced and reliable Electrical Maintenance Technician to join our team. If you have a strong electrical background and are looking for a dynamic role in a fast-paced environment, we'd love to hear from you!

Position Summary

In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing all electrical operations within the factory, providing both breakdown response and planned preventative maintenance for our Whitstable site and the wider Swegon group. You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of electrical systems, minimizing downtime, and maintaining compliance with safety and operational standards.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Perform routine planned preventative maintenance to ensure optimal equipment performance.
  • Oversee the installation of new equipment and the servicing of existing machinery.
  • Provide support for troubleshooting and repairs throughout the equipment's life cycle, focusing on electrical issues.
  • Address breakdowns promptly and carry out necessary repairs.
  • Take responsibility for building maintenance and repairs, either directly or by coordinating with external contractors.
  • Ensure timely preparation of work and activity reports.
  • Supervise contractors, when necessary, collaborate with team members, and work independently, including supporting the mechanically focused team.
  • Assist other departments and sites with breakdowns and troubleshooting.
  • Contribute to development projects on-site by supporting engineering tasks as needed.
  • Support and train staff on operational and maintenance best practices as required.

Essential Experience & Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar maintenance role within a Factory, demonstrating your expertise and reliability in the field.
  • You have experience of 3 phase/industrial wiring.
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel and reporting processes, enabling you to manage data and reports effectively.
  • Good communication and organizational skills, allowing you to manage tasks and priorities efficiently.
  • Proficient computer skills, with familiarity in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • GCSE standard in Maths and English or equivalent qualifications.
  • A solid understanding of electrical systems, backed by the 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations.
  • Fluent in English, speaking and written.
  • Experience of rolling mills, press brakes, industrial riveter and clinchers.

Desirable Experience & Qualifications

  • Capability to carry out mechanical repairs, adding versatility to your skill set.
  • Experience with Panel control circuits
