Overview

Electrical Maintenance Technician - near Buckden

Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 per annum

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Maintenance Technician to join a well-established business based near Buckden. This is a permanent, full-time position working Monday to Friday on a day-shift basis. The role offers a mix of traditional maintenance tasks alongside exposure to automation and control systems, making it an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to broaden their technical expertise.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance to ensure equipment operates efficiently and safely.
  • Diagnose electrical faults, undertake repairs, and minimise downtime.
  • Provide support with set-up and commissioning of production machinery.
  • Respond to and resolve automation and control system issues, including PLCs and HMIs.
  • Assist with fabrication, installation, upgrades, and improvement projects.
  • Update and maintain technical documentation, drawings, and maintenance records.
  • Work closely with production and engineering teams to drive reliability and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure all tasks are completed in line with health, safety, and site procedures.
Person Specification
  • Recognised electrical apprenticeship (City & Guilds, NVQ or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in electrical maintenance within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of automation/control systems (Siemens/Allen Bradley desirable).
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills with a methodical approach.
  • Comfortable reading and updating technical drawings and schematics.
  • Higher qualification (ONC/HNC) or equivalent practical experience advantageous.
  • Computer literate, ideally with experience of maintenance management systems.
  • Proactive, safety-conscious, and a strong team player
