Job summary

Morgan Jones Recruitment is partnering with a leading manufacturing business to appoint an Electrical Maintenance Technician. You will diagnose electrical faults, carry out planned maintenance, and support continuous improvement across production equipment.

This hands-on role involves hydraulic and pneumatic systems, installations and upgrades, and using a CMMS to manage work orders. Rotating shifts and a supportive team offer strong career development opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Requires NVQ Level 3 in an Engineering discipline or equivalent.
  • GCSE Maths and English at Grade 5 or equivalent.
  • Desirable 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose electrical faults and repair production equipment.
  • Complete planned preventative maintenance and condition monitoring.
  • Support reactive maintenance and breakdown response.
  • Work with hydraulic, pneumatic and automated machinery systems.
  • Assist with equipment installations, upgrades and site improvement projects.
  • Interpret mechanical drawings, schematics and technical documentation.
  • Use CMMS to manage maintenance activities and records.
  • Coordinate remedial actions from inspections and maintenance tasks.
  • Support facilities maintenance across buildings and site services.
  • Liaise with contractors and assist with RAMS and safe systems of work.
  • Source components and assist purchasing requirements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement to enhance efficiency.

Electrical Maintenance Technician Whitstable

Permanent role

Hours - Rotating shift pattern of:

  • Week 1: 6.00am – 2.00pm Monday – Friday.
  • Week 2: 2.00pm – 10.30pm Monday – Thursday and 2.00pm – 7.30pm Friday.

Are you a hands‑on Maintenance Technician with strong electrical skills, with some mechanical knowledge, and experience within a manufacturing environment? Our client is seeking a proactive and solutions‑focused engineer to support the reliability, performance, and continuous improvement of a busy production facility.

The Role

As a key member of the maintenance team, you will play an important role in ensuring equipment availability, reducing downtime, and supporting ongoing site improvement projects. This position offers a varied workload across production machinery, facilities maintenance, and capital improvement activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose electrical faults and carry out repairs to production equipment.
  • Complete planned preventative maintenance activities and condition‑based monitoring.
  • Support reactive maintenance and breakdown response activities.
  • Work with hydraulic, pneumatic and automated machinery systems.
  • Assist with equipment installations, upgrades and site improvement projects.

  • Utilise the CMMS system to manage maintenance activities and records.
  • Coordinate remedial actions identified through inspections and maintenance activities.
  • Support facilities maintenance across buildings and site services.

Requirements
  • Essential NVQ Level 3 in an Engineering discipline or equivalent.
  • GCSE Maths and English Grade 5 or equivalent.
  • Additional qualifications such as 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
  • Previous experience in a maintenance engineering role within manufacturing.
  • Strong mechanical fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills.
  • Experience working with hydraulics, pneumatics and industrial machinery.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Good IT skills and experience maintaining accurate records.
Desirable
  • Engineering apprenticeship.
  • IOSH Working Safely or similar safety qualification.
  • Knowledge of CNC machinery, injection moulding, automation or plating processes.
