Job summary

Calibre Search is seeking an Electrical Maintenance Engineer to support a large office and distribution site at Deeside, near Chester. The role is electrically biased, focusing on electrical maintenance, fault finding, PPM and reactive repairs.

Training is available to broaden into mechanical and refrigeration maintenance. The position is single-site with rotating day shifts (6am-2pm, 7am-3pm or 9am-5pm), 37.5 hours per week, and a salary up to £43,000 plus benefits.

Qualifications

• Recognised electrical qualification, apprenticeship or equivalent trade background.

Electrical Maintenance Engineer / Site Services Engineer - Deeside

£43,000 + Benefits | 37.5 Hours | Rotating Day Shifts | Single Site

An established retail business is looking for an experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join its in‑house engineering team at its large office and distribution site in Deeside, near Chester. This is an electrically biased maintenance role, ideal for an experienced electrician or electrical maintenance engineer who wants to develop their knowledge across wider site services. The main focus will be electrical maintenance, fault finding, PPM and reactive repairs. Experience with mechanical systems, refrigeration or general building services would be an advantage, but it is not essential as training can be provided. The role is based entirely at one site, with no requirement to travel between different locations.

The role operates on a rotating day‑shift pattern:
6am to 2pm
7am to 3pm
9am to 5pm
37.5 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive electrical maintenance across the site.
• Fault find, diagnose and repair electrical equipment and building services.
• Complete electrical maintenance, repairs and minor installation works.
• Respond to breakdowns and reactive maintenance issues to minimise disruption to the site.
• Carry out inspections, testing and routine maintenance of electrical systems.
• Maintain site infrastructure, plant and associated building services equipment.
• Work with the wider engineering team on mechanical and site‑services maintenance where required.
• Assist with the maintenance of refrigeration plant, with training available for an engineer without previous refrigeration experience.
• Maintain and monitor Trend BMS and other site systems.
• Complete statutory checks and maintenance activities in line with company requirements.
• Inspect and maintain equipment including dock levellers, access equipment and materials‑handling equipment.
• Use the Shire CMMS system to manage PPM schedules and record completed maintenance.
• Assist with the installation and commissioning of new plant, equipment and site infrastructure.
• Maintain accurate engineering and compliance records.
• Identify potential improvements to equipment reliability, performance and energy efficiency.
• Work alongside the Facilities Manager and wider site team to ensure maintenance requirements are dealt with efficiently.

What You'll Need

• A recognised electrical qualification, apprenticeship or equivalent trade background.
• Previous experience as an Electrical Maintenance Engineer, Electrician, Electrical Engineer, Maintenance Engineer or Site Services Engineer.
• Strong electrical fault‑finding and diagnostic skills.
• Experience carrying out planned and reactive maintenance.
• Experience working within an industrial, commercial, distribution, manufacturing or facilities environment.
• Good knowledge of electrical safety and general site maintenance.
• 17th or 18th Edition Wiring Regulations would be beneficial.
• A practical approach to fault finding and maintenance.
• The ability to work independently and as part of an engineering team.
• Experience with any of the following would be an advantage but is not essential:
• Commercial or industrial refrigeration.
• Ammonia refrigeration systems.
• Mechanical maintenance.
• Trend BMS.
• CMMS systems.
• Counterbalance FLT.
• IPAF 3a/3b.
• Legionella monitoring and site compliance.Training will be available for the right electrical engineer who wants to broaden their skill set into mechanical and refrigeration maintenance.

The engineering team looks after a wide range of electrical, mechanical, refrigeration and building services across the facility, giving engineers exposure to a varied range of equipment and maintenance requirements.

The site is easily commutable from Chester, Flint, Mold, Wrexham, Ellesmere Port, Wirral and surrounding areas.
