Our market-leading client is at the forefront of the Mechanical Handling Industry. They require an experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer to assist the team in designing projects, including control systems design, build, testing, and commissioning activities, to deliver top-tier designs and operational excellence to their clients.

This position involves both office and site work.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Office Based
  • Support the control system design team in specifying and integrating electrical field devices.
  • Generate electrical cable block diagrams and cable schedules.
  • Calculate electrical cabling sizes.
  • Provide cable containment information.
  • Collaborate with mechanical resources to ensure electrical equipment is integrated into overall design.
  • Create control system testing and commissioning schedules.
  • Develop control system site acceptance test procedures.
  • Install electrical control systems.
  • Verify control system components.
  • Configure Variable Speed Drives.
  • Perform electrical fault-finding activities.
  • Conduct control system electrical testing.
  • Perform Factory and Site Acceptance Testing.
  • Produce reactive risk assessments and method statements.
  • Participate in PPM activities.
  • Engage in project modernization work.
  • Attend breakdowns, identify faults, and carry out repairs.
Site Based
  • Implement electrical control system installations.
  • Verify control system elements.
  • Configure Variable Speed Drives.
  • Perform electrical fault-finding activities.
  • Conduct control system electrical testing activities.
  • Carry out Factory and Site Acceptance Testing.
  • Produce reactive risk assessments and method statements.
  • Participate in PPM activities.
  • Engage in project modernization work.
  • Attend breakdowns, identify faults, and repair effectively.
Key Skills/Experience
Essential
  • Experience with Overhead Electrical Travelling Cranes.
  • Experience in installing and testing electrical control systems.
  • Knowledge of safe work practices, permit systems, and Health and Safety legislation.
  • Knowledge of Electrical Wiring Regulations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Willingness to lodge away as required.
  • Knowledge of Machinery Safety Regulations (BS EN 13849-1).
  • Ability to obtain SC security clearance if required.
Desirable
  • Current 17th Edition Wiring Regulations certification.
  • Knowledge of control system instrumentation such as laser positioning systems, encoders, and safe access systems.
  • PLC/HMI literacy for testing, commissioning, and fault finding using programming laptops.
