Job summary

Aqumen Business Solutions Ltd in Huddersfield is seeking a hands-on Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join a busy manufacturing site. The role is 75% electrical and 25% mechanical, full-time and permanent, with a salary of £40,000–£45,000.

You will diagnose faults on three-phase systems, motors and drives, perform planned maintenance, support PLCs, and drive reliability improvements while upholding safety standards.

Qualifications

• Recognised electrical engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent).
• 17th or 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification.
• Experience in an electrically biased maintenance role within manufacturing or industrial environments.
• Strong fault-finding across three-phase systems, motors, drives and controls.
• Ability to read electrical drawings and schematics.
• Good mechanical maintenance skills and hands-on approach.
• Proactive on safety, maintenance and minimising downtime.

Responsibilities

• Electrical fault-finding: diagnose and repair faults on three-phase systems, motors, drives, and control panels.
• Keep production moving by responding to breakdowns quickly.
• Carry out planned maintenance to improve equipment reliability.
• Assist with PLC troubleshooting on PLC-controlled machinery.
• Provide mechanical support on pumps, gearboxes, bearings and conveyors.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and safety compliance.

What Will You Be Doing?

You’ll be at the heart of the engineering operation, ensuring machinery and equipment remain safe, reliable and productive.

• Electrical fault‑finding: Diagnosing and repairing faults on three‑phase systems, motors, drives, inverters and control panels.
• Keeping production moving: Responding to breakdowns quickly and effectively to minimise downtime.
• Planned maintenance: Carrying out PPM activities to improve equipment reliability.
• PLC troubleshooting: Identifying and resolving faults on PLC‑controlled machinery.
• Mechanical support: Working on pumps, gearboxes, bearings, conveyors and associated equipment.
• Continuous improvement: Finding smarter ways to prevent recurring faults and improve performance.
• Safety first: Ensuring all maintenance activities meet electrical safety and site compliance standards.

What Are We Looking For?

We're looking for a practical engineer with strong electrical knowledge, a problem‑solving mindset and the confidence to take ownership of maintenance challenges.

You’ll need:

• A recognised electrical engineering qualification – NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent.
• 17th or 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification.
• Previous experience in an electrically biased maintenance role within manufacturing or an industrial environment.
• Strong fault‑finding skills across three‑phase electrical systems, motors, drives and controls.
• The ability to read electrical drawings and schematics.
• Good mechanical maintenance skills and a willingness to get hands‑on.
• A proactive approach to safety, maintenance and minimising downtime.

Even better if you have:

• City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing.
• PLC fault‑finding experience (Siemens or Allen‑Bradley).
• Experience with pumps, process equipment or industrial automation.
• Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics or high‑current electrical systems.
