Overview

Electrical Maintenance Engineer.

We have an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic, meticulous, and determined individual to join our business and perform a key role within our engineering department. The candidate must be a methodical maintenance engineer with excellent aptitude & problem-solving competencies, high attention to detail, effective communication, flexibility, Leadership skills and the presence to apply time-served skills to any situation.

Purpose of the position

To provide high quality and on time services for the production department that requires engineering specific knowledge and skills. Ensure that all equipment on the Preston site is maintained to the highest standards relating to safety, efficiency & performance for use by the operations department.

Responsibilities
  • To ensure all equipment is in a safe & serviceable condition to maintain & enhance performance of all machinery within the corrugating / pack line plant.
  • Reduce engineering downtime, respond rapidly to machine failures & breakdowns.
  • Undertake projects and assist with all on-site installations.
  • To always keep open and clear lines of communication with management and fellow colleagues.
  • To undertake, develop & improve planned maintenance schedules.
  • To prioritise work within the engineering department & deploy resources accordingly.
  • To identify training needs or 'weak spots' within the department.
  • The organisation of contractors.
Tasks / Duties
  • Provision of the required engineering support services within the plant including
  • Handling engineering support requests for the production area and for the plant's infrastructure on-a-daily basis
  • Refurbishment of equipment as required, obtaining parts / information as required.
  • Development of the assigned operational improvement project tasks.
  • Complete Major Breakdown Report & Root cause Analysis.
  • Be a point of contact with contractors including inductions.
  • Training the machine operators on basic maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Use and regularly update the departmental electronic reporting systems including reporting on faults as well as preventive maintenance works.
  • Reporting the progress of the work and encountered problems to the Engineering Manager & Engineering Supervisor & Team Leader.
  • Utilise the maintenance and repair materials in a cost-effective manner & identify & review key spares which should be held in stock.
  • Adhere to priorities set by Engineering Manager and, in his absence Engineering Supervisor/Production Team Leader/Engineering Team Leader.
  • Keep the engineering workshop clean and tidy, record on audit log.
  • Complete daily shift handover reports and shift handovers to the next shift.
  • Cover for the other members of the engineering team during their absence (as required).
  • Report accidents, hazards, and near misses as well as faulty equipment to the management.
  • Ensure a swift response & rectification of safety related issues.
  • Take reasonable care for own and others health and safety.
  • Ensure contractors have a valid permit to work at all times & ensure adequate contractor supervision & adherence to 'CP07'.
  • Co-operate with management on Health and Safety matters.
Electrical Experience
  • Time served (apprenticeship trained) engineer
  • 4 years electrical maintenance engineering experience (required)
  • Fault finding on 3 phase control circuits (required)
  • Experience controls systems (required)
  • Experience with PLC's (preferred)
