Heathrow Hydrant Operating Company Ltd (HHOpCo) is seeking an Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join a small team. The role focuses on hands-on electrical works, breakdowns, repairs, fault diagnosis and delivering reliable maintenance services to critical hydrant systems at Heathrow.
The candidate should have substantial engineering/maintenance experience, a relevant NVQ/BS7671 certification, and a proactive approach to HSSE compliance, safety and continuous improvement on site.
Heathrow serves as Europe's busiest international aviation hub. The airport hosts approximately 90 airlines, operating nearly 1,300 daily flights that connect over 200,000 passengers to 185 destinations across 84 countries.
An annual volume of roughly 7.5 billion litres of Jet A-1 fuel is supplied to the airport's perimeter by eight fuel suppliers, with aircraft refuelling managed by several Into-Plane fuel providers.
Heathrow Hydrant Operating Company Limited (HHOpCo) oversees fuel handling from the airport boundary to hydrant delivery. HHOpCo is responsible for leasing, operating, maintaining, and managing Heathrow's two aviation fuel tank farms and three hydrant systems.
HHOpCo has approximately 7,000 items of plant listed in its maintenance system (mostly rotating machinery, valves and pipework and many electrical items), each with designated maintenance frequencies (typically daily, weekly, monthly, six-monthly or annually). Maintenance planning and execution is further broken down into routine maintenance and major maintenance programmes that require engineering insight and competencies.
The Electrical Maintenance Engineer will work in a small team of electrical and mechanical engineers and will be hands on dealing with electrical works, breakdowns, repairs and fault diagnosis.
You will be responsible for maintenance activities, ensuring they are effectively planned and scheduled, with action items followed up, so that the company does not fall behind in its preventative maintenance plan for critical equipment.
Experience in industrial process operation and construction, pipeline construction and operation, or pumping fluids through complex pipework would be advantageous, but not essential. Similarly, experience and a practical understanding of tank farms, valves, rotating machinery and associated pipework would be desirable.
