Job summary

Octagon Group in Middlesex seeks an experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join our Technical Services team, supporting complex manufacturing and test environments.

You will perform repairs, upgrades and risk mitigation on high‑voltage and RF systems, collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, and help drive reliability and safety improvements across capital equipment.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
• HNC/HND or military engineering qualifications will be considered with substantial relevant experience.
• Experience in manufacturing or advanced technology environments with capital equipment upgrades and lifecycle planning.

Responsibilities

• Carry out repairs, improvements, and de-risking activities on manufacturing and test equipment.
• Support engineering programmes addressing obsolescence, unreliability, and process risk.
• Contribute to upgrade, refurbishment, and replacement of complex equipment including vacuum systems, high-voltage systems, RF systems, scientific furnaces, and control hardware.
• Work closely with multi-disciplinary engineering teams and external contractors to ensure work is delivered safely, on time, and to specification.
• Assist with technical specifications, supplier evaluations, and contractor proposals.

An exciting opportunity has arisen in Middlesex for an experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join a highly skilled Technical Services function supporting complex manufacturing and test environments.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Carry out repairs, improvements, and de-risking activities on manufacturing and test equipment.
• Support engineering programmes addressing obsolescence, unreliability, and process risk.
• Contribute to the upgrade, refurbishment, and replacement of complex equipment including vacuum systems, high-voltage systems, RF systems, scientific furnaces, thin-film coating systems, and control hardware.
• Work closely with multi-disciplinary engineering teams and external contractors to ensure work is delivered safely, on time, and to specification.
• Assist with technical specifications, supplier evaluations, and contractor proposals.

Experience and Technical Background

• High-risk systems such as high voltage and complex control systems.
• Engineering support within manufacturing, electronics, or advanced technology environments.
• Capital equipment upgrades, lifecycle planning, and commissioning activities.
• Risk assessments and health and safety compliance.
