Job summary

Zest is seeking an experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join a fast-paced manufacturing environment in Devon. The role focuses on reactive and planned maintenance, rapid breakdown response, and hands-on repairs across conveyors and packaging equipment.

The ideal candidate will have a strong electrical and mechanical background, solid fault-finding skills, and qualifications such as NVQ/BTEC in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering. Commutable from Exeter and surrounding areas is expected.

Qualifications

• Strong electrical and mechanical background suited to a fast-paced manufacturing environment (Food Manufacturing preferred).
• Excellent fault-finding skills with a logical approach to troubleshooting both mechanical and electrical issues.

Responsibilities

• Carry out reactive and planned maintenance in a fast-paced environment.
• Respond quickly to machinery breakdowns to minimise production disruption.
• Repair and adjust a range of machinery, including conveyors, packing equipment, wrappers and other food production systems.
• Collaborate with production and engineering teams to identify improvement opportunities.
• Conduct routine safety checks, report hazards, and ensure safe working practices.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and parts usage.

Location: Devon (Commutable from Exeter, Taunton, Tiverton, Crediton, Newton Abbot and surrounding areas)

Key Responsibilities

• To carry out both reactive and planned maintenance in the fast paced environment.
• Rapidly respond to machinery breakdowns and failures to ensure minimum disruption to production.
• Provide hands-on repairs and adjustments on a range of machinery, including conveyors, packing equipment, wrappers and other critical food production systems.
• Work closely with the production and engineering teams to identify improvement opportunities.
• Conduct routine safety checks, report hazards, and ensure safe working practices are always followed.
• Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and parts usage.

Qualifications & Skills

• Strong electrical and mechanical background in a similar fast-paced manufacturing environment. (Food Manufacturing preferred)
• Excellent fault-finding skills with a logical approach to troubleshooting both mechanical and electrical issues.
• NVQ, BTEC, or equivalent in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering; a recognised apprenticeship or similar qualification is desirable.
