Syntech Recruitment Ltd is seeking an Electrical Maintenance Engineer in Ash Vale to support a diverse range of machinery from vintage 1950s equipment to modern automated lines and to uphold site reliability and electrical safety compliance.

You will perform planned preventive maintenance and reactive repairs, assist with bespoke welding machine builds, and drive continuous improvement across the facility while working with a close-knit engineering team. 39-hour week, DOE salary.

Qualifications

• Hands-on industrial electrical maintenance experience.
• Strong understanding of 3-phase power and motor control.
• Ability to fault-find across equipment from 1950s to modern lines.
• Familiarity with UK electrical safety regulations (18th Edition preferred).
• Proactive problem-solving and multitasking under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Carry out PPM and reactive repairs on a wide range of machinery.
• Manage 3-phase systems, power distribution, and motor control circuits.
• Assist with electrical assembly and build-out of bespoke welding machines.
• Oversee electrical safety and compliance, including EICR and PAT testing.
• Own electrical PPM schedules to reduce downtime.
• Maintain site infrastructure and ensure plant and control systems stay operational.
• Lead electrical continuous improvement to boost safety and production.
• Collaborate with maintenance and production leads to prioritise work.
• Ensure all work complies with UK electrical health and safety standards.

Electrical Maintenance Engineer

Location: Ash Vale Salary: £42,000 - £48,000 per annum (DOE) Hours: 39 hours per week (Mon-Thu 07:30 to 16:00, Fri 07:30 to 15:00)

The role offers involvement in the electrical build of bespoke machinery and site-wide improvement projects.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring site reliability, managing electrical safety compliance, and supporting continuous improvement across the facility by maintaining equipment ranging from vintage 1950s machinery to modern automated lines.

Electrical Maintenance Engineer Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs across a wide range of machinery, including grinding, milling, and turning machines (1950s to current), sintering furnaces, and dedicated wire‑making lines.
• Expertly handle 3-phase systems, power distribution, and motor control circuits.
• Assist with the electrical assembly and build‑out of bespoke welding machines.
• Manage site‑wide electrical safety and compliance, including 5-year fixed wire testing (EICR) and Portable Appliance Testing (PAT).
• Take ownership of electrical PPM schedules to reduce reactive downtime across the facility.
• Maintain site infrastructure and ensure all plant, auxiliary equipment, and control systems remain fully operational.
• Proactively identify and implement electrical continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, reduce downtime, and increase production efficiency.
• Work closely with the maintenance team and heads of production to prioritize workloads and ensure smooth operations.
• Ensure all work is carried out in line with UK electrical health and safety standards.

Electrical Maintenance Engineer Requirements

• Strong hands‑on background in industrial electrical maintenance within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
• Solid understanding of 3-phase power, power distribution, and motor control circuits.
• Technical versatility with the ability to fault‑find and maintain a wide age‑range of equipment (vintage 1950s to modern automated lines).
• Safety mindset with familiarity with UK electrical safety regulations (18th Edition preferred).
• Strong problem‑solving skills and a proactive, “hands‑on” attitude.
• Ability to manage a varied workload and work under pressure.

Desirable Skills

• Familiarity with control cabinets, control panels, and electronic components.
• Experience working with sintering furnaces or thermal processing equipment.
• Experience with complex production lines, dedicated wire‑making lines, or automated machinery.
• Eagerness to expand skills into electronics and advanced control systems (full support and training will be provided).

£42,000 - £48,000 per annum (DOE), paid weekly (overtime available on occasion as needed).

39‑hour working week: Monday to Thursday 07:30 - 16:00 (30‑min unpaid lunch), Friday 07:30 - 15:00.

25 days annual leave.
