Job summary

Wales & West Utilities Limited in the Bristol area is seeking an Electrical Installer to undertake installation, commissioning, operation, repair and maintenance on LV systems, standby generators, transformers, motors, actuators and instrumentation devices. You will support the First Line Manager by maintaining records and meeting deadlines.

You will carry out maintenance, prepare reports, oversee contractors, and work with other WWU departments to achieve shared goals.

Qualifications

• Qualified electrician (NVQ level 3) with 18th edition and 2391 or equivalent.
• Compex EX01-04 and instrumentation background preferred.

Responsibilities

• Carry out maintenance on electrical and instrumentation equipment, complete installation work and maintain systems.
• Prepare reports and provide technical information to WWU management and customers.
• Maintain accurate records to satisfy legislative requirements.

What we’re looking for:

We are looking for a Electrical Installer to undertake all aspects of installation, commissioning, operation, repair and maintenance work on LV systems, Standby generators, Transformers, Motors Actuators and general instrumentation plant such as various safety, control and measurement devices. You will support the First Line Manager by carrying out maintenance, repair and replacement of Electrical & Instrumentation systems on gas pressure control installations and associated equipment., completing records to a high standard and meeting deadlines.

You’ll be relied on to:

• Carry out maintenance work on electrical and instrumentation equipment, complete installation work and maintain systems whilst keeping up to date with technical advances, industry standards and future developments.
• Prepare reports and provide technical information and guidance to WWU management and third-party customers
• Maintain accurate records of all activities to satisfy legislative requirements
• Oversee activities carried out by contractors/direct labour, where necessary
• Work with other WWU departments in achieving shared goals

You’ll need to have:

• Be qualified to electrician (ie. NVQ level 3) standard or equivalent. 18th edition. 2391 or equivalent. Preferable with Compex EX01,02,03,04 and an instrumentation background
• Hold a full UK Driving Licence.
• Participation in a 24/7 standby rota which includes standby payments.
• Have the energy to work in all weather conditions.
• Be able to work well as part of a team and operate as a team leader.
• Have working knowledge of appropriate codes of practice, engineering instructions, safety, and statutory regulations.
• Sound IT skills for day-to-day applications such as Word, Excel and Outlook.

A easonable commuting distance of Bristol, typically no more than 45 minutes' travel time.
