Responsibilities

• Prepare electrical systems, panels and equipment in workshop before installation.
• Install control panels and electrical systems on customer sites.

• Support commissioning activities and ensure installations meet specs.
• Liaise with engineering and controls teams for smooth project delivery.
• Travel to customer sites, approximately 50% of the role.

Electrical Installation Engineer

Wigan

Up to £45K per annum plus 20% Overtime

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Installation Engineer to join a busy engineering team delivering industrial automation and conveyor solutions. This role is a mix of workshop preparation and on-site installation, ideal for hands‑on engineers who understand control panels inside out and enjoy working on real industrial systems.

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Working Hours & Location

The role offers a 50/50 split between workshop-based work and on-site installations.

Workshop Hours

• Monday to Thursday: 08:00-17:00
• Friday: 08:00-13:00

On-Site Hours

• 08:00-18:00

Travel & Accommodation

• Accommodation will be provided when working on sites that are further away from home.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparing electrical systems, panels, and equipment in the workshop prior to installation
• Installing control panels and electrical systems on customer sites
• Working with conveyor and material handling systems
• Reading and interpreting electrical drawings and schematics
• Supporting commissioning activities and ensuring installations are delivered to specification
• Liaising with engineering and controls teams to ensure smooth project delivery
• Travel to customer sites, approximately 50% of the role

Candidate Requirements

Essential:

• Strong experience as an Electrical Installation Engineer
• Proven knowledge of control panels and their operation
• Experience working with conveyor systems
• Ability to work independently on-site and in the workshop
• Willingness to travel regularly

Desirable:

• Experience in FMCG or industrial automation environments
• Familiarity with commissioning industrial automation systems
