Job summary

A recruitment agency is seeking an experienced Electrical Inspector for a long-term role at a high-security site in Reading. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting inspections to ensure compliance with standards and will need qualifications including 17th or 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations and City & Guilds 2391 or 2392. This position offers a competitive hourly rate and travel allowances.

  • Maintain accurate records and inspection reports.
  • Collaborate closely with project engineers, contractors, and site management.
  • Support audits and compliance checks as required.

Skills

Job description

Location: Burghfield Site, Reading

Contract Length: Long-term – until March 2027

Clearance: Must be a sole British national (no dual nationality) and eligible for SC clearance

IR35 Status: Outside IR35

Travel/Accommodation:

  • Site allowance included in hourly rate
  • Overnight allowance available if staying away from home
  • 5 hours travel time per week paid, or 2 hours per day if local and commuting

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Inspector to join a high-security site in Reading (Burghfield). This is a long-term opportunity working on a high-profile infrastructure programme. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring electrical systems meet required quality, safety, and compliance standards.

Must-Have Requirements:

  • 17th or 18th Edition (IET Wiring Regulations)
  • City & Guilds 2391 or 2392 (Inspection & Testing)
  • Valid CSCS card
  • Proven electrical inspection and quality assurance experience
  • Must be a sole British national (dual nationals cannot be considered due to clearance requirements)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections of electrical installations and systems to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards
  • Support QA/QC processes throughout the project lifecycle

  • Note: Responsibilities may vary depending on the needs of the project
  • Competitive hourly base rate (outside IR35)
  • Overnight accommodation allowance available if staying away from home
  • Paid travel time as per policy (5 hours/week or 2 hours/day if local)
