Job summary

Kier is seeking an Electrical/ICA Engineer to join the Thames Water Major Projects team in Harpenden, Hertfordshire. The role focuses on LV electrical, control and automation commissioning for water treatment infrastructure within major projects.

Responsibilities include reviewing documents, coordinating activities, fault finding, and supporting System Integrators in PLC/SCADA development. Full UK driving licence required.

Qualifications

• HNC qualification in Electrical/Electronic or Instrumentation Engineering required.
• Experience in ICA engineering, PLCs, HMIs, Profibus networks and SCADA installations.
• Good knowledge of LV motor control centres and comms protocols: Profibus, Modbus, Ethernet IP.
• Strong teamwork and multi-discipline collaboration skills.
• Full driving licence required.

Responsibilities

• Review LV Electrical and ICA documentation for compliance with water industry standards.
• Represent Kier at client meetings and coordinate electrical/ICA activities across projects.
• Conduct fault finding and configuration for MCC and ICA equipment including PLCs and SCADA.
• Oversee installation and commissioning of networks and support system integrators.
• Review risk assessments and method statements and approve test plans.

We're looking for an ElectricalICA Engineer to join our Thames Water Major Projects team based in Harpenden, Hertfordshire.

We're seeking an Electrical/ICA Engineer to provide LV Electrical, Control & Automation, and PLC & SCADA commissioning expertise for industrial projects within the water industry. As part of Kier's strategic partnership with Thames Water, you'll work on major projects and capital frameworks, delivering design and build services for new and existing infrastructure. This is an excellent opportunity for a quality-focused professional with a demonstrable history of commissioning Electrical ICA works in major projects.

What will you be responsible for?

As an Electrical / ICA Engineer, you'll be working within the Thames Water Major Projects team, supporting them in delivering high-quality commissioning services for water treatment infrastructure. Your day to day will include:

• Reviewing and providing constructive comments on LV Electrical and ICA documentation, including schematics, control philosophies, and specifications to ensure compliance with water industry standards
• Representing Kier at client meetings and coordinating electrical and ICA activities across projects
• Conducting fault finding and system configuration for MCC and ICA equipment, including PLCs and control panels
• Overseeing installation and commissioning of communication networks and supporting System Integrators in PLC software and SCADA development
• Conducting technical reviews of Risk Assessments and Method Statements, and authorising Inspection and Test Plans to ensure project compliance

What are we looking for?

This role of Electrical / ICA Engineer is great for you if:

• You hold an HNC qualification in Electrical/Electronic or Instrumentation Engineering, or a similar discipline
• You have experience in ICA engineering, PLCs, HMIs, Profibus networks and SCADA installations on large-scale water treatment works
• You possess a good knowledge of Low Voltage motor control centres and communications protocols including Profibus, Modbus, and Ethernet IP
• You have strong interpersonal skills and can work effectively as part of a multi-discipline team
• You hold a Full driving licence
