Job summary

M-Sport UK at Dovenby Hall is seeking an Electrical Harness Technician to join our busy Electrical team. You will manufacture, assemble, install and test electrical harnesses and systems across multiple high-performance motorsport programmes.

The role offers flexibility with full- or part-time hours and a proactive, collaborative environment at our world-class facility. You will work with engineering, design and workshop teams to meet strict specifications and reliability targets.

Qualifications

• Educated to Level 3 Electrical Engineering or similar technical standard.
• Good understanding of electrical principles and vehicle systems.
• Experience with harness manufacture and assembly processes.
• Meticulous approach with attention to quality and detail.
• Practical problem solving in a workshop/assembly environment.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and follow specifications.
• Good communication and teamwork in a busy technical setting.

Responsibilities

• Harness manufacture to drawings, wiring diagrams and build specs.
• Assemble, terminate, splice and modify harnesses using proper tools.
• Work with vehicle electrical and electronic systems and sensors.
• Carry out electrical testing and inspection to spec.
• Diagnose faults and reduce vehicle downtime.
• Interpret drawings and schematics for accurate assembly.
• Inspect finished harnesses for quality and reliability.

Operating at the highest levels of international motorsport, M-Sport UK delivers programmes across the FIA World Rally Championship, Rally-Raid, and a variety of global customer racing activities. We're looking to recruit a skilled and enthusiastic Electrical Harness Technician to join our busy Electrical team at our Dovenby Hall headquarters. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of M-Sport's technical operations, supporting the manufacture, assembly, installation, maintenance and repair of electrical harnesses and electrical systems across a variety of high-performance motorsport programmes. Working closely with colleagues across our electrical, engineering, design, workshop and technical teams, you will play an important role in ensuring electrical harnesses and associated systems are manufactured and installed to the highest possible standards, meeting technical specifications, reliability requirements and deadlines.

The role can be filled on a full or part-time basis and a flexible approach to hours can be considered for the right candidate.

Role Responsibilities

• Harness Manufacture: Manufacture electrical harnesses to engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, build specifications and required quality standards.
• Harness Assembly: Assemble, terminate, splice and modify electrical harnesses and associated components using the appropriate tools and techniques.
• Electrical Systems: Work with a variety of vehicle electrical and electronic systems, including sensors, actuators, control units, data acquisition and communication systems.
• Testing & Inspection: Carry out electrical continuity, insulation, and functional testing to ensure harnesses and electrical systems meet the required specification.
• Fault Finding: Diagnose and resolve electrical faults, using a methodical approach to identify issues and minimise vehicle downtime.
• Technical Documentation: Interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics and technical documentation to ensure accurate harness manufacture and installation.
• Quality Control: Inspect completed harnesses to ensure they meet M-Sport's expected standards of quality, reliability and workmanship.

Essential Criteria & Skills

• Technical Understanding & Education: Educated to Level 3 Electrical Engineering, Engineering Fitter, Motorsport, Automotive or a similar technical standard, with good understanding of electrical principles.
• Electrical Knowledge: Good understanding of vehicle electrical systems, wiring, connectors, terminals, sensors and associated components.
• Harness Skills: Practical experience of cable preparation, crimping, soldering, splicing, terminating and harness assembly.
• Attention to Detail: A meticulous approach, with pride in delivering work to a high standard.
• Problem Solving: A practical and methodical approach to identifying and resolving technical issues.
• Quality Focus: High standard of workmanship, with the ability to identify defects and ensure completed work meets the required standard.
• Communication Skills: Good verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues across technical, engineering and workshop teams.
• Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively within a busy technical environment while also being capable of working independently.

Preferred Experience: Previous experience working in a high-level or national motorsport team is desirable but not essential.
