Job Description:

Central Power Services has a vacancy for an electrical generator engineer. The ideal candidate will have experience in the diesel generator field, including installing and testing installations ranging from basic AMF to more complex peak lopping and paralleling systems. The position offers benefits such as a service vehicle, laptop, BUPA, and factory training courses.

Responsibilities include:

• Electrical installation of control and power cabling between generators, changeover panels, switchboards, and ancillary equipment such as fuel controls, louver controls, BMS controls, etc.
• Testing installations according to NICEIC requirements and recording results.
• On-site testing to client specifications, fault finding, modifications, and reprogramming as needed.
• Competence with DSE, COMAP, and Woodward control panels is advantageous.

Additional duties:

• Call Out Rota – approximately 1 week in 8
• Generator servicing and maintenance at customer premises
• Generator load testing
• Generator fault finding and electrical repairs

Qualifications and experience required:

• Minimum 5 years in diesel generator installation
• Minimum 2 years as a diesel generator commissioning engineer
• Knowledge of various manufacturer’s equipment
• NVQ Level 3 / HNC / HND in Electronic / Electrical Engineering
• City & Guilds 2832 - 18th Edition IEE Regulations
• City & Guilds 2395 / 2396 or 2392 / 2391 - Inspect & Test
• Manufacturers training courses
• Ability to work in a team
• Clean driving license

Preferred qualifications:

• Completed a recognized electrical apprenticeship
• Computer literacy (Word, Excel, PLC languages, and other software)
• Experience with various alternator makes and types
• Willingness to multitask
• UPS experience
