Job summary

United Infrastructure Ltd. invites a skilled Electrical Field Engineer to join our field-based team covering Aberdeen and surrounding areas. You will install, test, commission, maintain and troubleshoot LV electrical systems at project sites, ensuring compliance with design specs, codes and deadlines.

The role requires 2–5+ years of field experience, strong knowledge of power systems, protection and control circuits, and a proactive approach to safety and training junior engineers as needed.

The Electrical Field Engineer is responsible for the installation, testing, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical systems and equipment at project sites. This role ensures that all electrical work meets design specifications, safety standards, and project deadlines while providing technical support to field teams and clients. This is a field based role covering Aberdeen and surrounding areas.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform installation, testing, and commissioning of LV electrical systems,
  • Conduct troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair of electrical faults and ensure minimal downtime.
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with national and international electrical codes (e.g., NEC, IEC, IEEE).
  • Coordinate with project managers, designers, and contractors to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Prepare technical reports, test results, and documentation.
  • Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Implement and enforce safety procedures and quality standards.
  • Provide technical training and guidance to junior engineers.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • 18th Edition
  • C+G 2365 Level 3
  • 2-5+ years of field experience (depending on job level).
  • Strong understanding of power systems, protection, and control circuits.
  • Working knowledge of automation systems is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to travel and work in field environments.
Preferred Certifications (optional):
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or EIT certification
  • Ability to work with heights
  • OSHA Electrical Safety Certification
  • NFPA 70E / IEC safety training
  • HV/LV Switching authorization
