Job summary

McM Recruitment Solutions in Liverpool is seeking an Electrical Estimator to join an established M&E contractor, delivering electrical packages on larger construction projects across the North West. The role focuses on preparing estimates from drawings and specifications, carrying out take-offs, and building up labour, material and subcontract costs.

You will work with the commercial, design and project delivery teams, review tender documentation, and support tender submissions while learning

Qualifications

• Experience in estimating in M&E or electrical contracting.
• Strong take-off and costing skills with eye for detail.
• Experience with estimating software is desirable.
• Electrical qualifications or background as electrician is desirable.

Job description

We are currently recruiting for an Electrical Estimator to join an established M&E contractor based in Liverpool, delivering mechanical and electrical packages on larger construction projects across the North West.

The company works with main contractors, developers and direct clients, with typical contract values ranging from £500k to £15 million. Its work spans commercial, healthcare, hospitality, residential, retail, industrial and leisure projects. This is a great opportunity for an Assistant or Junior Estimator looking to develop their skills, with training and support to progress within the business.

The Role

• Preparing electrical estimates and tenders from drawings and specifications
• Carrying out take-offs and building up labour, material and subcontract costs
• Obtaining and comparing supplier and subcontractor quotations
• Reviewing tender documentation and supporting the identification of scope gaps and risks
• Working closely with the commercial, design and project delivery teams
• Supporting the preparation of tender submissions
• Learning from senior estimators and developing towards a lead estimating role

Requirements

• Previous experience in an estimating role within M&E or electrical contracting (low to medium experience considered)
• Basic knowledge of take-offs and electrical installation methods
• Experience with estimating software (e.g. CATS, Estimating Pro or similar) is desirable
• Electrical qualifications or a background as an electrician or in electrical contracting (desirable)
• Strong attention to detail and commercial awareness
• Keen to learn and develop within an estimating career
• Strong communication and organisational skills
