Job summary

Babcock invites talented students to join its SSE team in Bristol for a 12-week internship supporting maintenance of in-service submarines and providing technical engineering support to the Ministry of Defence.

You’ll apply your degree studies in Electrical, Control and Instrumentation, Robotics, Mechatronics, Control Systems, Aerospace, Avionics or Software, gaining hands-on experience and the potential to join our graduate programme after a successful placement.

Qualifications

• Must be studying towards a degree in Electrical Engineering, Control and Instrumentation, Robotics, Mechatronics, Control Systems, Aerospace, Avionics or Software.
• Security clearance requirements: BPSS and SC clearance eligibility.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll be based within the Submarine Support Engineering (SSE) team, which focuses on maintaining in-service submarines and provides technical engineering support to the Ministry of Defence. Over the course of 12 weeks, you’ll gain exposure to a range of engineering challenges, from defence engineering to complex nuclear projects.

You’ll apply your academic knowledge to real-world scenarios, contributing to meaningful projects and working alongside experienced professionals.

Expect to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and support the delivery of engineering solutions that help ensure the safety and effectiveness of the UK’s submarine fleet.

• You must be studying towards a degree in one of the following disciplines: Electrical Engineering, Control and Instrumentation, Robotics, Mechatronics, Control Systems, Aerospace, Avionics, or Software. Our preference is that your degree is also accredited by the relevant institution.
