Job summary

Octavius Infrastructure Ltd invites undergraduates pursuing an Electrical Engineering degree to join a hands-on eight-week Summer Placement. Based across London, York, the Midlands, the North West and other SE locations, you'll work on real infrastructure projects, supporting installation, testing and commissioning of electrical systems.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Eight-week placement starting June/July 2027.
• Willing to travel and stay away from home when required.
• A full UK driving licence is preferred for site-based work.
• Proactive, adaptable and keen to apply academic knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Support project teams with safe installation, testing and commissioning of electrical systems.
• Assist with electrical engineering activities and project documentation.
• Gain practical experience across site and office-based environments.
• Work alongside Site Managers, Project Managers, Project Engineers and Engineering Managers.
• Build relationships with colleagues, clients and other stakeholders.
• Develop understanding of health, safety and quality within infrastructure environments.
• Bring fresh ideas and inquisitive approach to projects.

Location: London, York, the Midlands, the North West, and across various project locations throughout the South East of England (from Dorset to Dover).

Summer Placement - Electrical EngineeringAt Octavius Infrastructure, we believe in helping you be your best in the work you do. Our eight-week Summer Placement is designed to give aspiring electrical engineers practical experience, exposure to real infrastructure projects and the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals.

Starting in June or July 2027, you'll apply what you've learned at university in a practical environment while developing valuable technical and professional skills to support your future career.

The placement This isn't just work experience. It's an opportunity to explore a career in electrical engineering and gain a genuine understanding of what it's like to work within the infrastructure industry.

During your eight-week placement, you'll work across site and office-based environments, supporting the delivery of electrical solutions for projects that connect communities and improve transport networks. You'll gain exposure to the installation, testing and commissioning of electrical systems while developing your communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills.

A successful summer placement may also lead to consideration for future opportunities with Octavius, including a Year in Industry Placement or our Graduate Scheme.

What you'll do

During your placement, you'll:
