Electrical Engineering Manager – SME Leadership Position – Amazing Opportunity

Location: Essex, Hertfordshire, Slough, and EMEA

Salary: £90,000 – £95,000 + Annual Bonus (10%) Plus Company Car Scheme

About the Role

As the Electrical Engineering Manager, you will play a pivotal role within our Central Engineering team, overseeing a group of highly skilled Electrical Engineers across the UK and Western Europe (UK, Netherlands, Spain, France). In this subject matter expert (SME) role, you and your team will be responsible for ensuring the highest levels of efficiency, reliability, and safety across all electrical systems within your region.

You will function as a crucial interface between Data Centre Operations, Design Teams, OEMs, and Customers, while also overseeing the development and implementation of Electrical Safety Rules.

This leadership position will report directly to the Senior Electrical Engineer - EMEA.

What We Are Looking For

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent qualification (e.g., HND, HNC), ideally within mission-critical environments such as Data Centres.
  • Proven Leadership: Significant leadership experience managing a team of electrical engineers and apprentices, with a focus on high-performance outcomes.
  • Mission Critical Experience: Experience in electrical engineering, maintenance, commissioning, and safety standards within mission-critical environments, such as Data Centres or similar high-availability sectors.
  • High Voltage Authorising Engineer (HV AE): Previous experience and qualifications as a High Voltage Authorising Engineer are essential.
  • Comprehensive Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of large-scale electrical systems, including High Voltage (HV), Low Voltage (LV), UPS, Standby Power, BMS/EMS, and control systems.
  • Advanced Technical Skills: Knowledge of discrimination, short circuit, and arc flash studies is desirable.
  • Efficiency & Optimization: A proven track record in optimizing electrical systems and driving efficiency improvements, particularly in Data Centre environments.
  • Stakeholder Management: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and manage key stakeholders effectively.
  • Problem-Solving Expertise: Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with an initiative-taking approach to continuous improvement.
  • SOP/EOP Expertise: Familiarity with the development of SOP/EOP and experience with the CAB process.
  • Engineering Accreditation: Chartered Engineer (CEng) status, or in progress toward achieving it, is and WILL be supported.
  • Skills: Fluency in English is essential, with additional skills (e.g., Dutch, Spanish, French, German) being advantageous.
  • Travel Flexibility: Willingness to travel regularly within the UK and internationally (up to 25%).
