Electrical Engineering Manager – SME Leadership Position – Central Engineering
Data Centres – Critical Environment
Locations include Essex, Herts, Slough, and EMEA regions.
Benefits include Pension and 25 Days Holiday.
Travel in the UK and abroad will be required.
As Electrical Engineering Manager, SME Leader, you will lead our Central Engineering team of Electrical Engineers. Your team and you will be responsible for all electrical systems within your scope, acting as the interface to Data Centre Operations, Design teams, OEMs, and customers. You will be involved in authoring and deploying Electrical Safety Rules, ensuring high standards of efficiency, reliability, and safety. You will report to the Senior Electrical Engineer - EMEA.
What will you do
- Manage and develop Electrical Engineering operations for the UK and Western Europe (UK, Netherlands, Spain, France).
- Lead and expand the Electrical Engineering team, managing workload and resources.
- Ensure effective time management and quality delivery among stakeholders.
- Maintain strong stakeholder management, providing regular updates internally and externally.
- Conduct root-cause analysis and implement lessons learned for continuous improvement.
- Contribute to training development for electrical systems, ensuring compliance with standards and regional requirements.
- Act as escalation point for electrical and control issues at 2nd and 3rd levels.
- Develop and approve SOP/EOP and manage MOP, SOP, and EOP within the CAB process.
- Manage electrical safety rules, ensuring safety and standardization across the company.
- Collaborate with Design teams, External Consultants, and OEMs, leveraging technical expertise for effective solutions.
What we are looking for
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering or related field, such as HND or HNC, with experience in mission-critical environments.
- Proven leadership experience managing electrical teams and apprentices.
- Experience leading technical functions within mission-critical environments with a customer-focused approach.
- Extensive experience in electrical engineering, maintenance, commissioning, and safety standards in Data Centres or similar sectors.
- Previous experience as a High Voltage Authorising Engineer (HV AE).
- Technical knowledge of large-scale electrical systems, including HV, LV, UPS, standby power, BMS/EMS, and control systems.
- Proficiency in discrimination, short circuit, and arc flash studies is desirable.
- Track record of electrical optimization and efficiency improvements, especially in Data Centres.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to analyze root causes and implement lessons learned.
- Experience in developing and delivering electrical training programs.
- Familiarity with SOP/EOP development and CAB processes.
- Capability to act as an escalation point for complex electrical issues.
- Strong problem-solving skills and proactive approach to continuous improvement.
- C Eng Status or progress towards it.
- Fluent in English; additional languages (Dutch, Spanish, French, German) are a plus.
- Willingness to travel regularly within the UK and internationally (up to 25%).
