Job summary

Vertiv Group Corporation is seeking a Lead Presales Electrical Engineer to join the Londonderry team. You will work in an interdisciplinary setting to design electrical power systems for data centers, coordinating with mechanical, architectural, and controls disciplines.

The role requires strong knowledge of LV/MV distribution, load calculations, and protection coordination, with a focus on delivering modular, scalable solutions for critical infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical engineering.
• Proficient in electrical power system design.
• Sizing and specification of electrical equipment and installations.
• Knowledge of load calculations, short circuit and protection coordination.
• Strong written and verbal communication across multiple teams.
• Proficient PC skills: Windows, MS Office including Excel and Word, AutoCAD.
• Fluent English (Active English).

Responsibilities

• Concept design of Data center electrical power systems and architecture.
• Perform load calculations and protection coordination studies.
• Develop single-line diagrams and electrical schematics.
• Coordinate with architectural, structural, HVAC, controls and fire protection teams.
• Read and interpret RFPs and tender documents.
• Translate customer requirements into modular data center solutions and quotations.

Our LV & MV Switchgear divisions design and manufacture electrical distribution equipment for business-critical applications throughout Europe. Due to continued growth, Vertiv is seeking to recruit ambitious and motivated Electrical Engineering Lead to join the Presales team in Londonderry, Derry.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Lead Presales Electrical Engineer is an important part of an interdisciplinary team of technical experts (mechanical, structural, architectural) to bring together schematic design for Data center (Hyperscale, Enterprise, Colocation, Edge, CLS) and Critical Infrastructure facilities. Position includes applying theoretical knowledge, practical engineering skills, as well as communicational skills in the fields of Clean Energy, AI and Data center design.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Concept design of Data center electrical power systems and architecture, with traditional and AI design requirements, which includes:
  • LV power distribution (low voltage switchgear, uninterruptible power supply systems, busbar systems)
  • MV power distribution systems (medium voltage switchgear and transformers)
  • Auxiliary systems (AC, DC), lightning protection systems, diesel gensets….
  • Electrical load calculations, arc flash, short circuit and protection coordination study calculations and modeling tools
  • Electrical single-line diagrams
• Understanding of relevant codes and standards for electrical power equipment and installations
• Coordination with other technical disciplines (architectural, structural, HVAC, controls, fire protection)
• Reading and understanding RFP and tender documents
• Problem solving and interpretation of customer requirements in proposed solutions
• Modular Data center technical solutions and quotations

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering
• 5+ years experience
• Proficient in Electrical power system design
• Sizing and specification of electrical equipment and installations
• Knowledge of electrical load calculations, short circuit and protection coordination study calculations and modeling tools
• Solid communication skills, both written and oral, to work across multiple Engineering and Manufacturing teams to bring architectures and concepts to deployment
• PC skills: active user of Windows, MS Office incl. Excel (A), Word (A), AutoCAD
• Active English
