Job description

About the Role

Ready to launch your engineering career while shaping the future of energy? At EDF power solutions, you'll gain hands-on experience, learn from experts, and help deliver renewable energy projects that support the electrification of homes, businesses and communities across the UK.

The Opportunity

As an Electrical Engineering Graduate, you'll earn a salary of £37,500 per annum and begin your career at EDF power solutions in early September 2027. You'll develop technical and professional skills while building a strong foundation for a long-term engineering career.

Over this 16-month programme, you'll rotate across Engineering teams and work on wind, solar PV and private wire projects. You'll gain experience from development through to commissioning while contributing to projects that support our ambition of powering an Electric UK and Ireland.

What You'll Experience

As an Engineering Graduate at EDF power solutions, you'll gain exposure to a range of renewable energy technologies while supporting projects that help transform how energy is generated, stored and supplied across the UK.

You’ll support engineering activities across solar PV, battery storage and private wire projects. From feasibility studies and design development to technical assessments and problem-solving, you'll learn how projects are delivered safely, effectively and compliantly.

You’ll also review technical documentation, collaborate with project teams and build practical industry knowledge. We'll support your development as you begin your journey towards chartership with the Institution of Engineering & Technology or another relevant professional body.

Location

You’ll be based at one of our key sites in #Edinburgh, #London or #Durham. During the programme, you’ll have opportunities to complete placements across different locations, giving you valuable exposure to a range of teams, technologies and operational environments.

Most roles require between three and five days per week on site. Depending on your placement rotations, travel and relocation may be required during the programme. We'll provide practical and financial support to help make these transitions as smooth as possible.

Why EDF power solutions?

We're united by a shared ambition: to tackle climate change, shaping an Electric UK and Ireland. Our diverse team is growing fast, driven by innovation and a commitment to clean, green energy for all.

With technologies spanning onshore and offshore wind, solar, battery storage and green hydrogen, we're one of the UK's and Ireland's most diverse renewable energy generators. By 2035, we aim to deliver 10GW of low-carbon energy capacity, and we'd love you to help us get there.

Where This Programme Could Take You

Ben completed EDF power solutions' Science and Engineering Graduate Programme, where he worked on a variety of projects that developed both his technical engineering expertise and broader professional skills. The programme gave him meaningful responsibility and exposure to different engineering environments.

Working alongside experienced colleagues, Ben strengthened his technical knowledge, built his confidence and developed skills that helped him transition successfully into a permanent engineering role within the business.

"During my time on the EDF power solutions graduate programme, I had the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, which helped me develop both my technical engineering skills and broader professional capabilities. I was trusted with meaningful work that made a genuine contribution while always having support from experienced colleagues. It was an incredibly rewarding experience that gave me the skills, confidence and experience to progress into a permanent engineering role."

Who You Are

To be eligible for this EDF power solutions graduate programme, you need to have achieved, or be expecting to achieve, a bachelor's or postgraduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Control Systems, Control and Instrumentation, or a related subject.

To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least three of the past five years.

Please note that an Assessment Centre stage of the hiring process will take place online, on 11th November 2026. Applicants must be able to attend on this date to be considered for the programme.
