Job description

About the Role

Looking to shape the future of energy while building a career that's unique to you? At EDF, Success is Personal. You'll learn from experts, develop valuable commercial and procurement skills, and build a career that helps Britain achieve net zero.

The Opportunity

Alongside earning a salary of £35,000 per annum, you'll join our two-year Supply Chain Graduate Programme, expected to begin in September 2027. From day one, you'll become part of our graduate community and start building a career that sits at the heart of one of the UK's most critical industries.

As part of the programme, you'll work towards a fully funded CIPS Level 4 Diploma in Procurement and Supply, developing the professional knowledge and practical experience needed to thrive in a commercial supply chain environment.

Over the course of the scheme, you'll gain experience across multiple areas of EDF's Nuclear business, including Hinkley Point C, Nuclear Operations and our central Supply Chain teams. You'll develop an understanding of procurement, contract management, supplier relationships, forecasting, strategic sourcing and commercial delivery, while contributing to projects that support the UK's transition to a low‑carbon future.

You'll have opportunities to work across a variety of locations, building a broad network and gaining insight into different parts of the business. Every placement is designed to help you grow professionally while making a meaningful contribution to EDF's mission.

What You'll Experience

No two placements are the same. Throughout the programme, you'll work alongside procurement specialists, commercial managers, contract managers and supply chain professionals who play a vital role in delivering major projects and supporting EDF's operating nuclear fleet.

  • Procurement and sourcing activities
  • Contract management and administration
  • Supplier performance and relationship management
  • Cost forecasting and commercial analysis
  • Stakeholder engagement and collaboration
  • Strategic supply chain planning
  • Commercial decision‑making and problem solving

You’ll take on real responsibility from the beginning, working on live projects that have a direct impact on the success of EDF's operations and major infrastructure programmes. Along the way, you’ll receive structured learning, mentoring and support to help you reach your full potential.

The variety of placements will help you discover where your interests lie while developing the confidence, commercial awareness and professional network needed for a successful long‑term career.

Location

You’ll be based at one of our key sites – #Hinkley Point C #Bristol #Bridgwater - with opportunities to complete placements across different parts of our business depending on project and development requirements.

Most roles require attendance on site between three and five days per week. During the programme, you may be asked to relocate temporarily for placements, and we’ll provide practical and financial support to help make these moves as smooth as possible.

Where This Programme Could Take You

One of the current Supply Chain Graduates joined the programme because it offered the opportunity to gain experience across a variety of business areas and understand how supply chain supports different parts of the nuclear industry.

Through rotations across Hinkley Point C and Nuclear Operations, they developed an understanding of both major construction project delivery and the challenges of supporting operating nuclear stations. These experiences helped them build confidence, broaden their commercial awareness and strengthen their stakeholder management skills.

A particular highlight of the programme was spending time at Heysham 1, seeing first‑hand how the Supply Chain team supports station outages and ensures critical materials and services are available when they're needed most.

Today, they have secured a role as a Commercial Manager at Hinkley Point C, demonstrating how the programme can provide a strong foundation for a long‑term career within EDF.

"I chose the EDF Supply Chain Graduate Scheme because it offered the opportunity to gain experience across a variety of business areas. Through rotations within Hinkley Point C and Nuclear Operations, I developed an understanding of both major construction project delivery and the challenges of supporting operating nuclear stations. These experiences helped me build confidence, broaden my commercial awareness and strengthen my stakeholder management skills."

"A particular highlight of the scheme was spending two months at Heysham 1, where I saw first‑hand how the Supply Chain team supports station outages and ensures critical materials and services are available when they are needed most."

"The programme has provided me with a strong foundation for my career, exposing me to a wide range of projects, teams and ways of working across EDF. I have genuinely enjoyed my time on the scheme and am grateful for the opportunity to work alongside talented colleagues, graduates and apprentices across the business. The relationships I built and the experiences I gained were among the most rewarding aspects of the programme, helping me secure a role as a Commercial Manager at Hinkley Point C, where I will continue my career with EDF."

Paulina Mikula – Commercial Manager at HPC.
