The Role

As the Electrical Engineering Design Manager at Merit, you will lead the Electrical Engineering Design Team in producing technically accurate electrical systems designs in accordance with BS7671 & HTM standards, ensuring consistency of estimates and budgets.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and control the technical content of models and drawings, and approve designs
• Specify electrical components and systems aligned with Merit’s platform design
• Coordinate with personnel on modelling and CAD requirements for fully integrated project models
• Facilitate engineering reviews and key document preparations for models and layouts
• Advise management on technical and procedural compliance
• Prepare progress reports for engineering and project management
• Verify design work and calculations, identifying resource needs
• Develop engineering practices and quality plans
• Manage subcontractor scopes and coordinate design updates
• Lead value engineering workshops to finalize designs for procurement and manufacturing
• Ensure use of best practices and offsite manufacturing techniques
• Align drawings with models and client requirements
• Lead electrical workshops with clients
• Oversee the project lifecycle with your team of engineers
• Maintain collaboration across mechanical, architectural, and site teams

Personal Qualities and Experience

• Electrical Engineering qualification and relevant design experience
• Site project management and team leadership experience
• Proven track record in cost efficiency and project control
• Experience in hospital, cleanroom, and laboratory design/construction
• Knowledge of engineering technologies and MMC including off-site manufacturing
• Experience managing multiple projects to successful completion
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and modular wiring solutions
• Knowledge of BS7671, BS5839, BS6701, HTM06 & HTM08 standards
