Job summary

RG Setsquare is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join a well-established engineering team at a large healthcare facility in Smethwick. The role focuses on planned and reactive maintenance in a highly regulated environment.

You will diagnose faults, carry out electrical repairs, and respond to breakdowns while ensuring safety and compliance. The position offers a structured career path and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• Proven electrical maintenance experience in building services.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working in a regulated facility environment is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance tasks.
• Diagnose faults and carry out electrical repairs efficiently and safely.
• Respond to breakdowns and emergency maintenance requests.
• Monitor and respond to BMS alerts and system alarms.
• Maintain and repair electrical building services systems.
• Work on emergency lighting, fire alarm systems, nurse call systems and general electrical installations.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety and statutory regulations.
• Complete maintenance documentation and reports accurately.

Location: Smethwick

Shift Pattern: 2 Days, 2 Nights, 4 Days Off (7am-7pm / 7pm-7am)

The Opportunity

We are recruiting for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join a well-established engineering team based at a large healthcare facility in Smethwick. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a critical environment, delivering planned and reactive maintenance while developing your technical skills within a supportive and professional team.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance tasks
• Diagnose faults and carry out electrical repairs efficiently and safely
• Respond to breakdowns and emergency maintenance requests
• Monitor and respond to BMS alerts and system alarms
• Maintain and repair electrical building services systems
• Work on emergency lighting, fire alarm systems, nurse call systems and general electrical installations
• Ensure compliance with health & safety and statutory regulations
• Support the achievement of Competent Person and Authorised Person status through training and development
• Complete maintenance documentation and reports accurately

Requirements

• City & Guilds Level 2 & 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent)
• AM2 qualification
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
• Previous experience within a maintenance or building services environment
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
• Ability to pass a DBS check

Desirable:

• Previous experience within a healthcare environment
