Job summary

Hitachi Rail UK Limited is seeking an Electrical Engineer (Schematics) in Newton Aycliffe, Durham. You will design, integrate and maintain electrical schematics and system layouts for complex rail projects, ensuring compliant, safe and reliable electrical solutions throughout the product lifecycle.

You will work in a collaborative, international engineering environment, leveraging E3.series and other tools while coordinating with suppliers and customers.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical, Electrotechnical or related Engineering discipline.
• Experience producing electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Knowledge of electrical design software, ideally E3.series (Zuken).
• Experience in rail/transport, manufacturing or electromechanical environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop, integrate and maintain detailed electrical schematics and system designs using CAD tools.
• Design and size wiring systems, cable routes and electrical networks per standards.
• Specify relays, contactors, connectors and circuit breakers.
• Support electrical system architectures and conceptual solutions.
• Ensure designs comply with railway standards and safety regulations.
• Perform cable sizing, protection coordination and system calculations.
• Support manufacturing and vehicle assembly during testing.
• Collaborate with suppliers, customers and stakeholders.
• Contribute to investigations and continuous improvement.
