Senior Electrical Engineer (PLC Design Expertise) – Glasgow (Hybrid)

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to new system and product designs, addressing technical queries for existing products.
  • Collaborate with sales, supply chain, and production for optimal technical solutions.
  • Generate part numbers, BOMs, and source components.
  • Produce engineering documentation (specifications, proposals, testing procedures, reports).
  • Ensure timely delivery of solutions within budget, meeting engineering and company standards.
  • Serve as technical approver for relevant documentation.
  • Lead and mentor a team, ensuring performance, development, and compliance.
  • Implement competence framework, training, and performance reviews.

Requirements:

  • Strong electrical and electronics design skills.
  • Proficient in design calculations and CAD tools.
  • Experience with PLC-based control systems, industrial automation (e.g., Profibus, CANbus, Ethernet).
  • Knowledge of IEC 61508 for critical applications.
  • Experience in HV/LV system design, power distribution, and battery systems (up to 150 kWh).
  • Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Familiar with marine/defence standards (e.g., LR, DNV, DEFSTAN).
