Electrical Engineer (Plant & Building Services) - Aldermaston, Berkshire, RG7 4PR

Job Type: Full-Time

Salary: £43,000 - £53,000 per annum + Holiday, pension, life insurance

Working within our Facility Engineering team, we are looking to appoint an experienced Electrical Engineer (Plant & Building Services) to deliver professional electrical design engineering services for plant and equipment. Title: Electrical Engineer (Plant & Building Services)

Location: Reading

Salary: Up to £52,000 depending on experience plus allowances

Your role will include:

  1. Applying expertise in electrical design and knowledge of building services and associated plant to deliver design solutions for new or upgraded electrical installations (distribution boards, circuits, connected assets).
  2. Producing modification packages, managing configured plant changes, and acting as an intelligent client in acquiring or specifying engineering services or products.
  3. Identifying defects, non-compliances, and substandard configurations in electrical installations.
  4. Evaluating engineered systems and structures to ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality standards.
  5. Proposing practical, risk-informed solutions to improve system reliability and performance.
  6. Assessing and communicating potential business risks and opportunities arising from system conditions.
  7. Planning, managing, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver safe, compliant, and high-quality engineering outcomes.
  8. Providing advice, guidance, progress reports, and supporting documentation to relevant stakeholders.
  9. Reviewing Electrical Installation Certificates and Electrical Installation Condition Reports.

Additional requirements:

  • Adherence to Company Management System requirements, relevant Technical Standards & Legislation, and business controls.
  • Display professional, ethical, and courteous conduct.
  • Experience in electrical building installations and services (3-phase distribution boards, connected assets).
  • Knowledge of COMPEX, UPS, BMS, HVAC, electric hot water systems, and industrial processes.
  • Awareness of relevant HSE legislation, industry best practices, and standards.
  • Qualifications such as IET 18th Edition, Electrical Testing (City and Guilds 2391).
  • Experience in regulated industries (e.g., nuclear, petro-chem, pharma) is beneficial.
  • Electrical Approved Person competency.
  • Previous experience as an installer or maintainer is advantageous but not essential, as the role focuses on design and consultancy services.

Qualifications: Minimum Level 4 NQF (HNC) in electrical engineering, with additional experience; a BEng degree in electrical engineering or building services (electrical) is advantageous.
