Job DescriptionJob DescriptionSalary:

SMMA seeks an Electrical Engineer to join the firms Engineering team, a talented group of designers and problem-solvers. This position is for a mid-to-senior engineer based in our Cambridge, MA or Providence, RI office whowill lead the electrical design through all project phases. Given SMMAs integrated and multidisciplinary composition, the role affords a chance to coordinate and work closely with staff across numerous areas of design expertise and provide exposure to various projects and client types.

The candidate will lead and be active throughout projects full lifecycles from concept design to final construction documents and during construction administration. The position includes performing specific electrical engineering tasks and priorities associated with electrical building design.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop electrical construction documents (e.g. power distribution, lighting, and fire alarm systems) for commercial, residential, laboratories, and institutional projects.
  • Perform service, voltage drop, and short circuit calculations
  • Perform light level point-to-point calculations
  • Coordinate designs with all disciplines
  • Develop construction details
  • Create and modify specifications tailored for each project
  • Attend meetings with utility companies, contractors, building department officials
  • Participate in construction administration activities


Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 5 plus years experience
  • Registration as an EIT or Professional Engineer is
  • Experience with a variety of design software and programs such as AutoCAD, Revit, and MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of applicable building and electrical codes (e.g. NFPA, NEC, IBC, IECC)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
