URGENT ROLE - REQUIRED START ASAP
  • Electrical Engineer (HV/Protection)
  • Contract Role - 7 Months
  • Up to £65 p/h
  • Hybrid - 2-3 days a week in Devonport or the Bristol office

The Energy Division at ARM is currently recruiting an experienced Electrical Engineer (HV/Protection) to join a world-leading nuclear defense client based out of Devonport dockyard.

Job Overview:

This role involves a major engineering initiative focused on upgrading a Defence facility in Plymouth, UK, supporting the Vanguard and future Dreadnought Class submarines. The project has a 10-year timeline, valued at £1 billion, representing significant infrastructure development for the UK's Defence sector.

Responsibilities include:
  • Preparing and/or checking designs, analyses, reports, drawings, and specifications related to Nuclear and Non-Nuclear plant, facility, and equipment, supporting internal and external projects.
  • Participating in problem-solving for technical deficiencies and developing new designs.
  • Reviewing and assessing new design submissions, construction methodologies, and temporary works for the Technical Authority.
  • Managing design work packages, including planning, scheduling, deliverables, technical reviews, and construction support.
  • Supervising and guiding junior staff members.
  • Utilizing Learn from Experience data to enhance practical engineering knowledge and record skill development.
Requirements:
  • Experience in designing control & instrumentation systems.
  • Understanding of communications and data systems.
  • Experience substantiating SIL and high-integrity systems for Nuclear Safety functions.
  • Solid understanding of engineering design and safety practices relevant to the role.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety, Design, and Quality procedures within the company and department.
