The role

As an Electrical Engineer - HMI, you will be responsible for the next generation of Norton’s HMI systems. You will handle software and hardware requirements, ensuring compliance with industry standards for security, safety, and diagnostics. You will be expected to deliver innovative technologies for Norton Motorcycles. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, hands-on team player, experienced in working cross-functionally to meet departmental and business goals.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Design and develop HMI systems for infotainment, instrument clusters, and driver assistance features.
  • Collaborate with UX/UI designers, software developers, and system engineers to translate user needs into functional interfaces.
  • Define HMI architecture, system requirements, and interface specifications.
  • Work closely with the Engineering validation team to plan feature testing and support hardware and software validation.
  • Ensure compliance with automotive safety standards (e.g., ISO 26262) and usability guidelines.
  • Coordinate with engineers within wider teams to ensure all requirements are captured.
  • Support the electrical team in developing functional specifications and module requirements.
  • Assist in review processes with progress reports and updates on electrical concerns.
  • Contribute to defining the software development process.

Personal Specification

Candidates should have a solid understanding of engineering fundamentals related to the design and development of components and assemblies, including:

  • Experience in HMI development.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with dSPACE HIL toolchain.
  • Design for assembly and manufacturing.
  • Advanced knowledge of Vector Canalyzer, CANoe, and Canape tools.
