Position Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer who thrives in designing and evaluating electrical systems for buildings, infrastructure, and site-wide power distribution. This role is ideal for a mid-level professional who enjoys project variety—from troubleshooting field issues to providing technical design documents—and is comfortable traveling nationwide to support client sites.

Position Type: Remote - Work from home with project-based travel to client sites nationwide. Ideal candidates will be in the CD-DMV area.

Essential Functions:

  • Design and document electrical systems for small to mid-size building construction projects, including power distribution, lighting systems, and building controls (BAS/low-voltage).
  • Conduct site visits across CONUS (Continental United States) to assess existing systems, troubleshoot performance issues, and recommend improvements.
  • Ensure all designs and installations adhere to current codes and standards, including NEC, IBC, NFPA, IECC, and applicable local regulations.
  • Perform load calculations, single-line diagrams, panel schedules, and other technical documentation to support permitting and construction.
  • Interface with clients, contractors, and internal architectural/mechanical teams to coordinate design deliverables and technical reviews.
  • Support master planning or infrastructure upgrades in federal and commercial settings as part of integrated A/E teams.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited school
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in building electrical design or facilities systems
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, or other electrical design platforms
  • Working knowledge of key electrical standards (NEC 2020, NFPA 70E, IECC)
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to write technical reports and design memoranda
  • Willingness and ability to travel approximately 25–30%, primarily within the lower 48 states, with frequent visits in the DC Metro area
  • Ability to obtain a Tier 3 Security Clearance – CAC Card

Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or EIT pursuing licensure
  • Experience designing and troubleshooting Building Automation Systems (BAS), PLC controls, or emergency standby power systems
  • Certifications such as LEED GA, Certified Energy Manager (CEM), or OSHA 30
