Job summary

WSP is hiring an Electrical Engineer in Building Services at our Cambridge office. You will design, specify, and deliver electrical systems for a range of projects, using Revit MEP and AutoCAD, with a focus on UK regulations and good coordination with the project team.

You will collaborate with 25 engineers in Cambridge as part of the national MEP team, with hybrid working options across the UK and development towards Chartered status where applicable.

Qualifications

• Experience as an electrical engineer in building services.
• Understanding of UK/European regulations for project execution.
• UK project experience in Building Services MEP.
• Familiarity with electrical design software and Revit MEP or similar.
• Ability to sketch and communicate technical detail graphically.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed design and performance specifications for the discipline.
• Contribute to project delivery with multidisciplinary input.
• Review design programme and ensure sufficient resources.
• Coordinate with discipline lead and client as required.

A little more about your role…

• Meeting the requirements of an 'Engineer' grade and have a proven track record of working on projects for your discipline as part of the overall project team.

• Able to work using their own initiative with supervision on all technical aspects of their discipline.

• Able to work under the clear direction of the discipline lead or the client and interpret the needs of the project as a whole to meet the full delivery needs.

• Consider the feasibility of the project specific to the discipline.

• Proficient in completing detailed design and performance specification for the discipline subject to review by colleagues prior to issue and providing design and technical advice with a multidisciplinary approach on a wide range of projects.

• Review and input where required to the detailed design programme and ensure that sufficient resource is available to complete the works

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…

Key Technical Requirements:

• Experience as an electrical engineer in building services

• Having an understanding of the UK and European regulations applicable to the discipline and how to demonstrate this in project execution.

• Have UK project experience within Building Services MEP (Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing)

• Have working understanding of latest electrical design software packages to allow the allocation / direction of work on projects.

• Have understanding of working with Revit MEP or other 3D design software to allow the allocation / direction of work on projects.

• Have an ability to sketch and communicate technical detail graphically and effectively.

• Have working knowledge of AutoCAD to allow the allocation / direction of work on projects.

Electrical Design Skills:

• Cable calculations (via software and by hand)

Qualifications:

• BEng/Bsc/MEng in applicable engineering discipline

• CIBSE / IET / Engineering Council accredited honours degree or specific experience that will lead to Chartership.

• Working towards I Eng or C Eng status

• RevitMEP training applied to the discipline
