Job summary

A leading engineering firm in Porton Down, Salisbury is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join their Technical Services team. This role focuses on ensuring electrical system compliance, safety, and operational efficiency within Ministry of Defence estates. Responsibilities include supervising the engineering team, overseeing maintenance standards, and acting as the Qualified Supervisor. Competitive salary of £48,000–£52,000 plus potential on-call payments. This is a full-time position with 37.5 hours per week.

Qualifications

  • Experience in supervising electrical engineering teams and subcontractors.
  • Knowledge of BS7671 and BS5266 standards.
  • Registered as Qualified Supervisor (QS) and Authorised Person (HV & LV).

About the Role

Mainstay Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Building Services Engineer (Electrical) to join our clients Technical Services team. This is a key leadership position focused on electrical engineering compliance, safety, and operational efficiency across complex and secure Ministry of Defence estates.

This role combines technical excellence with operational leadership, acting as the Qualified Supervisor (QS) and Authorised Person (HV & LV). Your work will have a direct impact on ensuring the safety, reliability, and compliance of vital electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and guide the electrical engineering team and subcontractors
  • Oversee inspection, testing, and maintenance in accordance with BS7671 and BS5266 standards
  • Ensure compliance with NIC / EIC accredited standards and maintain governance
  • Act as Authorised Person (HV / LV) for the control of high-risk engineering activities
