Job description

Job Title: Electrical Maintenance Engineer - Afternoon Shift

Location: Coventry

Salary: £40,000

Shift: 16:00 - 02:00 (Afternoon shift)

Mainstay Recruitment, in partnership with a leading powder coating business, is seeking an electrically skilled Maintenance Engineer with PLC experience to join a fast-paced, quality-driven production environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform planned and reactive maintenance on electrical systems across the site.
  • Fault finding and minor programming of PLC systems (Siemens, Allen-Bradley preferred).
  • Support mechanical maintenance: motors, conveyors, pneumatic systems, and ovens.
  • Ensure minimal downtime on production equipment, especially powder coating lines.
  • Record maintenance activities accurately and assist in continuous improvement projects.
  • Maintain high standards of health & safety and compliance.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Recognized electrical qualification (NVQ Level 3, HNC, or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or production environment.
  • Solid knowledge of PLC fault finding, resets, and programming tweaks.
  • Mechanical awareness to diagnose issues with moving machinery.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and proactive maintenance approach.
Desirable (not essential)
  • 17th or 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
  • Experience with powder coating, painting, or finishing lines.
  • Experience with automated conveyors or compressed air systems.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing, TPM, or continuous improvement techniques.
