Responsibilities
- Preparing and reviewing designs for schemes to ensure they are fit for purpose and meet current legislation and standards. You will work with Motor Control Centres, LV distribution systems, Cabling, Instrumentation, Industrial Networks, PLCs and SCADA on both new and legacy installations.
- Producing and reviewing technical specifications and procurement schedules; reviewing supplier tender bids and technical submissions.
- Understanding and applying design standards with knowledge of client and industry standards.
- Challenging client specifications and presenting defendable solutions to complex problems.
- Identifying opportunities to improve delivery processes, including development and implementation of standard designs, sustainable solutions, and digital tools.
- Acting as technical checker on project documents and undertaking technical reviews across teams.
- Managing interfaces and integration of the electrical design with other disciplines and producing documentation.
- Seeking input from other engineers, specialists, clients and project team members to deliver fit-for-purpose solutions.
- Working closely with commercial, operational and construction teams to develop efficient, practical and safe solutions throughout design, construction and beyond.
- Supervising and mentoring Graduates and Engineers to help develop their knowledge and skills.
- Engaging with the client to manage relationships and support a one-team approach.
- Conducting site reviews to ensure buildability and integration with existing systems.
What you can offer
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- Chartered or incorporated member of a professional institution (e.g., ICE, IMechE) or equivalent experience.
- Experience with water or wastewater, non-infrastructure or infrastructure projects.
- Experience delivering high-quality outputs in accordance with design, quality and safety standards.
- Proven ability to deliver results within short timeframes, prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.
- A valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites.
