Job description

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Electrical Engineer with 4-5 years of practical experience to support the design, implementation, and optimisation of electrical systems and infrastructure. This role is ideal for a technically strong professional who enjoys a mix of hands-on engineering and project involvement.

The successful candidate will contribute to electrical design, maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the design and development of electrical systems and components
  • Review and interpret electrical drawings and schematics
  • Support equipment selection and specification
  • Participate in new installations, upgrades, and commissioning
  • Operations & Maintenance
  • Troubleshoot electrical faults and implement corrective actions
  • Support preventative and predictive maintenance programmes
  • Optimise system reliability and uptime
  • Work closely with maintenance and production teams
Projects
  • Contribute to electrical engineering projects from planning to execution
  • Support project timelines, budgets, and documentation
  • Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and cross-functional teams
  • Assist in commissioning and handover of projects
  • Compliance & Safety
  • Ensure adherence to electrical standards and regulations
  • Maintain compliance with health and safety policies
  • Support audits and risk assessments
  • Ensure proper documentation and reporting
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Professional registration (ECSA or working towards) is advantageous
  • Experience
  • 4-5 years relevant experience in an industrial or project environment
  • Exposure to electrical systems design, maintenance, or commissioning
  • Experience in sectors such as manufacturing, mining, energy, or FMCG preferred
Technical Skills
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems and control panels
  • Experience with PLCs, drives, and automation (advantageous)
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
  • Familiarity with electrical codes and standards
  • Proficiency in engineering tools/software (e.g., AutoCAD, EPLAN)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
