Job description

AWC Staff Services are looking for an Electrical Authorised Person for work with their client on the M25 Corridor.

The Electrical Authorised Person (AP) will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and isolation of electrical systems on the M25 network. Working as part of the infrastructure maintenance team, the AP will be a key figure in ensuring all high-voltage (HV) and low-voltage (LV) electrical work is carried out in compliance with statutory regulations, industry standards, and permit-to-work systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out the role of Electrical Authorised Person in accordance with the M25 Electrical Safety Rules.
  • Plan and implement electrical isolations and switching activities on HV/LV systems to support maintenance and project works.
  • Issue and manage permits to work, switching schedules, and electrical safety documents.
  • Ensure safe systems of work are followed for all electrical activities, including fault diagnosis, testing, inspection, and commissioning.
  • Liaise with contractors, control centres, and relevant stakeholders to coordinate electrical works.
  • Supervise and audit electrical works carried out by internal teams and subcontractors.
  • Ensure that all work is completed in accordance with current IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) and relevant health & safety legislation.
  • Maintain accurate records, including switch logs, certificates, and maintenance schedules.
  • Support out-of-hours standby and emergency response requirements as needed.

Essential Experience:

  • Recognised Electrical Apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation/Maintenance.
  • Current Authorised Person (AP) status (HV/LV), ideally under MOD JSP 375 or similar framework.
  • Experience working in a highway, infrastructure, or large-scale facility maintenance environment.
  • Strong understanding of BS 7671, Electricity at Work Regulations, and permit-to-work systems.
  • Full UK driving licence.
