Job summary

JLL is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to deliver maintenance excellence across a major London portfolio. The role features split shifts (06:00–14:00 and 14:00–22:00) and focuses on planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs, and smart building technology integration.

You will work with advanced building management systems, diagnose faults, perform routine checks, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Qualifications

  • Recognised electrical engineering qualification (City & Guilds Level 3, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent).
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) certification essential.
  • Desirable: Inspection and Testing qualification (2391 or equivalent).
  • Strong knowledge of HV/LV distribution systems and building services.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver planned maintenance programs across the portfolio and handle reactive maintenance.
  • Maintain and optimise smart building platforms and BMS for energy efficiency.
  • Perform fault-finding, testing, and diagnostics on electrical systems.
  • Review drawings and specs to support maintenance decisions and safety.
  • Collaborate with teams to ensure 24/7 operational coverage.
  • Support continuous improvement and deliver quality service to the client.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Operations & Maintenance

Deliver comprehensive planned preventative maintenance (PPM) programs across the portfolio, ensuring all electrical, and building systems operate at optimal performance levels. Respond promptly to reactive maintenance requests, diagnosing faults and implementing effective solutions to minimise downtime and maintain service continuity. Perform routine inspections, testing, and servicing of critical building systems to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and manufacturer specifications.


Smart Building Platforms & Building Management Systems

Operate and maintain integrated smart building platforms, building management systems (BMS), and electrical control systems to optimise building performance and energy efficiency. Monitor electrical system performance data through smart platforms, identifying trends and proactively addressing potential issues before they impact operations. Support the implementation, commissioning, and optimisation of smart electrical technologies and automated control systems across the portfolio.


Technical Due Diligence

Perform detailed fault-finding and diagnostics on complex electrical systems using appropriate test equipment and methodologies. Review electrical drawings, specifications, and technical documentation to support effective maintenance and operational activities. Provide technical expertise and guidance on electrical matters to support informed decision-making across the portfolio. Conduct thorough risk assessments and implement safe working practices in accordance with health and safety regulations. Ensure all work is completed to the highest standards, meeting both client expectations and regulatory requirements.


One Team Approach

Collaborate effectively with colleagues across shifts, multidisciplinary engineering teams, and client stakeholders to ensure seamless 24-hour operational coverage. Provide comprehensive shift handovers, sharing critical information about ongoing works, system status, and emerging issues to maintain service continuity. Actively participate in team meetings, knowledge-sharing initiatives, and the development of best practices that enhance overall team performance.


Value Delivery & Continuous Improvement

Identify and implement opportunities for electrical system improvements, energy efficiency gains, cost savings, and enhanced service delivery during each shift. Proactively communicate with clients, building occupants, and stakeholders, delivering excellent customer service and building strong professional relationships. Support the achievement of key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level agreements (SLAs) through consistent, high-quality technical delivery.


Required Qualifications & Experience


  • Recognised electrical engineering qualification (City & Guilds Level 3, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent) in electrical installation or building services

  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) certification (essential)

  • Inspection and Testing qualification (2391 or equivalent) (highly desirable)

  • Strong working knowledge of high voltage (HV) and low voltage (LV) electrical distribution systems

  • Experience with building management systems (BMS), lighting control systems, and smart building technologies

  • Competent in electrical fault-finding, testing, and diagnostics using appropriate test equipment

  • Sound understanding of electrical safety procedures, permit to work systems, and safe isolation practices

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across split shift patterns

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Strong communication and customer service abilities


Desirable Qualifications


  • Authorised Person (electrical) certification

  • HV switching and operational competence

  • Generator maintenance and operation experience

  • Fire alarm and emergency lighting system qualifications

  • Full UK driving license
