Job summary

Cambridge Maintenance Services Limited is seeking an electrically skilled maintenance technician to deliver planned and reactive maintenance across a client portfolio. You will ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently, while providing exceptional customer service. We supply a company van, mobile phone, tablet and uniform.

Roles include 42.5 hours per week, with overtime after 47.5 hours. Essential qualifications include City & Guilds Level 3 and 2391-52, with a full UK driving licence.

Qualifications

• Good understanding of M&E building services.
• Electrical Installation qualification (e.g. City & Guilds Level 3).
• Inspection & Testing qualification (e.g. City & Guilds 2391-52).
• Full UK driving licence.
• Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional service to clients, ensuring work meets contractual requirements and high standards.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and respond to reactive maintenance and faults.
• Diagnose and rectify faults efficiently, arrange equipment replacements to minimise downtime.
• Complete quality inspections and ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.
• Maintain records through the Elogbooks facilities management system.
• Coordinate maintenance schedules with the Lead Engineer and Support Desk Supervisor.
• Participate in out-of-hours emergency call-out rota as required.
• Perform a variety of hands-on tasks across client sites.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety legislation and company policies.
• Pursue training to maintain up-to-date technical knowledge and qualifications.
• Build positive client and colleague relationships; represent the business professionally.
• Support the wider team with additional duties as needed.

Job description

As a key member of our Electrical maintenance team, you'll play a vital role in delivering both planned and reactive maintenance across a range of electrical systems within our client portfolio. You'll be responsible for ensuring equipment operates safely and efficiently while providing an exceptional service that consistently exceeds customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver exceptional service to our clients, ensuring all work is completed to the highest standards and in line with contractual requirements.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and respond promptly to reactive maintenance and equipment breakdowns.
• Diagnose and rectify faults efficiently, arranging equipment replacements where required to minimise downtime.
• Complete quality inspections and ensure all work meets recognised industry standards and best practices.
• Effectively manage and maintain records through our Elogbooks facilities management system.
• Work closely with the Lead Engineer and Support Desk Supervisor to coordinate maintenance schedules, priorities, and reporting requirements.
• Participate in the out-of-hours emergency call-out rota as required.
• Undertake a variety of hands‑on and physically demanding tasks across client sites.
• Ensure full compliance with company policies, health & safety legislation, and relevant industry regulations.
• Take ownership of your professional development by participating in training and maintaining up-to-date technical knowledge and qualifications.
• Build positive working relationships with clients and colleagues, representing the business professionally at all times.
• Support the wider team by undertaking additional duties appropriate to the role when required.

Hours of Work:

42.5 hours per week between Monday - Friday. Overtime starting after 47.5 hours.

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

• Good understanding of M&E building services.
• Relevant Electrical Installation qualification (e.g. City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent).
• Inspection & Testing qualification (e.g. City & Guilds 2391-52).
• Full UK driving licence.
• Strong electrical fault‑finding and diagnostic skills.
• Ability to interpret and analyse electrical systems.
• Self‑motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Methodical approach to record keeping and reporting.
• Practical, hands‑on attitude with excellent problem‑solving skills.

Desired Skills & Qualifications:

• Training in Legionella Awareness & Emergency Lighting Regulations.
• City & Guilds / Plumbing / AC servicing / Gas.
• 18th Edition.
• LV Approved.
