Job summary

SYSTRA UK & Ireland are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to support rail and built environment projects in the UK. You will prepare outline and detailed designs for multi-disciplinary projects, follow procedures, and liaise with other disciplines and external engineers to ensure compliant designs.

You will bring knowledge of electrical services design for railway lineside systems, experience with calculation software, and a relevant qualification such as an HNC.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of electrical services design within the built environment and/or transport infrastructure including railway lineside systems and/or lighting, small power, containment, earthing and fire alarms.
  • Experience in the use of industry wide software for electrical calculation purposes.
  • Knowledge of multi-disciplinary issues associated with railway lineside systems and/or the Built Environment.
  • Qualification: HNC or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare outline and detailed design for multi or single disciplinary projects as required.
  • Follow and check procedures throughout project delivery.
  • Interface with other disciplines and 3rd parties / external Engineers to ensure a multi-disciplinary design is developed, if appropriate to project specifications.
  • Report updates to senior Engineers, technical leads and the project management team on project progress.
  • Apply procedures and systems to ensure the safety of staff and others affected by the operations of SYSTRA throughout design lifecycle.
  • Contribute to company-wide goals and business improvement.
  • Continue your own professional development with support from SYSTRA in line with your professional body.
  • Any other duties as required.

Stakeholder accountabilities
  • Interaction with internal disciplines, Project Managers and Engineers for project delivery across engineering and consultancy
  • Liaising with clients, joint venture partners and external contractors as required, attending client meetings when required
Profile/Skills
  • Knowledge of electrical services design within the built environment and/or transport infrastructure including railway lineside systems (points heating, signalling power, level crossings, general LV distribution) and/or lighting, small power, containment, earthing and fire alarms
  • Experience in the use of industry wide software for electrical calculation purposes
  • Knowledge of multi-disciplinary issues associated with railway lineside systems and/or the Built Environment
  • Qualification: HNC or equivalent
