Job summary

SYSTRA Ltd in the UK is recruiting an Electrical Design Engineer to contribute to rail and built environment projects. You will prepare outline and detailed electrical designs, interface with multi-disciplinary teams and external engineers, and ensure safe, compliant delivery from concept through to completion.

Qualifications

• Experience in electrical design for built environment or transport projects.
• Knowledge of railway lineside systems and safety standards.
• Proficiency with industry software for electrical calculations.

Main tasks and responsibilities

• Prepare outline and detailed design for multi or single disciplinary projects as required
• Follow and check procedures throughout project delivery
• Interface with other disciplines and 3rd parties / external Engineers to ensure a multi-disciplinary design is developed, if appropriate to project specifications
• Report updates to senior Engineers, technical leads and the project management team on project progress
• Apply procedures and systems to ensure the safety of staff and others affected by the operations of SYSTRA throughout design lifecycle
• Contribute to company-wide goals and business improvement
• Continue your own professional development with support from SYSTRA in line with your professional body.

Stakeholder accountabilities

• Interaction with internal disciplines, Project Managers and Engineers for project delivery across engineering and consultancy
• Liaising with clients, joint venture partners and external contractors as required, attending client meetings when required

Profile

• Knowledge of electrical services design within the built environment and/or transport infrastructure including railway lineside systems (points heating, signalling power, level crossings, general LV distribution) and/or lighting, small power, containment, earthing and fire alarms
• Experience in the use of industry wide software for electrical calculation purposes
• Knowledge of multi-disciplinary issues associated with railway lineside systems and/or the Built Environment
