Job summary

Proactive Global in Stoke-on-Trent is seeking an Electrical/Electronics Test Technician to support manufacturing with high‑voltage test work. You will perform tests, fault finding, and electronics assembly support using oscilloscopes, multimeters and function generators, while reading drawings and procedures to ensure traceability.

The ideal candidate holds NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering or equivalent and has proven HV experience, with strong safety discipline including lockout/tagout.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Proven experience with high-voltage electrical systems.
• Strong understanding of high-voltage safety procedures, including switching and lockout/tagout.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
• Experience in a regulated production/engineering environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct test activities following instructions and processes to ensure technology is delivered effectively and on-time.
• Prepares test activities during product manufacturing.
• Electronics assembly inspection support.
• Use of standard bench top test equipment such as oscilloscopes, function generators, multimeters, etc.
• Ability to fault find electronic circuits and assemblies to component level.
• Read manufacturing drawings and follow test procedures and documentation.
• Maintain manufacturing documentation for traceability.
• Install, test, commission, and maintain high-voltage equipment including converters, transformers, filters, and control systems.
• Carry out diagnostics and fault finding on high-voltage systems using specialist tools and test equipment.
• Support monitoring of system performance and assist with operational testing.
• Ensure all work complies with high-voltage safety procedures, technical standards, and environmental requirements.
• Keen to learn new skills.

Electrical/ Electronics Test Technician

Electrical/ Electronics Test Technician urgently required to work for a leading manufacturing company based Near Stoke on Trent. We are looking for experienced electrical/ electronics Technicians who have experience of test work with a positive attitude to learning who can develop and enhance skills further.

You will be doing a range of Electrical and Electronic test processes to deliver products through advanced and specialised experience, typically developed through a combination of job-related training and considerable on-the-job experience.

Test Technician may carry out tasks such as.

• Conduct test activities following instructions and processes to ensure technology is delivered effectively, efficiently, on-time, to specification and in a cost effective manner.
• Performs/prepares test activities during product manufacturing.
• Electronics assembly inspection support.
• Use of standard bench top test equipment such as oscilloscopes, function generators, multimeters etc.
• Ability to fault find electronic circuits and assemblies to component level.
• Follows and communicates understanding of test procedures, processes and technical documentation.
• Maintains manufacturing documentation to achieve full standards of traceability.
• Testing equipment 'Plug and Play'
• The ability to read from manufacturing drawings
• Assembly of electromechanical equipment with help of basic hand tools & following through Work.
• Install, test, commission, and maintain high-voltage equipment including converters, transformers, filters, and control systems.
• Carry out diagnostics and fault finding on high-voltage systems using specialist tools and test equipment
• Support monitoring of system performance and assist with operational testing and control activities.
• Ensure all work is completed in full compliance with high-voltage safety procedures, technical standards, and environmental requirements. instruction/schematics

Qualifications:

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related discipline is essential.
• Proven experience working with high-voltage electrical systems is essential.
• Strong understanding of high-voltage safety procedures, including switching and lockout/tagout is essential.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals is essential.
• Experience working in a regulated production or engineering environment is essential.

Desirable Experience

Experience working with HVDC systems.
HV Authorised Person (AP) certification.
IPC J-STD-001 soldering certification.
Familiarity with quality systems and formal engineering documentation.
